rain, rain, rain

It has been raining for the past 3 days and it’s suppose to rain until Tuesday – oh I hate the rainy season in Korea! In Korea the rainy season (changma) starts in late July and lasts through mid-August and often causes flooding of low areas. We cannot go anywhere without an umbrella during this time!
Today after church I went out for lunch with my friend Helen, her sister who’s visiting Korea for week and my friend Lavina. After lunch Lavina and I spent the rest of the day at her place relaxing and watching movies! At first for some reason we couldn’t get the VCR to work but then we finally got it to work and we were able to watch the movies.
The movies we watched were: "Dreamer" and "Shall we dance?" and they were both really good movies. I hightly recommend both of the movies. It’s extremely cheap to rent movies in Korea, it only costs $1 to rent one movie for the day!
The Story of "Dreamer:" "Dreamer" was inspired by the true story of the promising filly, Mariah’s Storm, who fractured her left front cannon bone during a race. Normally this would have been a career-ending injury, however her owners and trainers didn’t give up on the horse. After rest and rehabilitation, Mariah’s Storm went on to not just race again, but to win.
With "Dreamer," writer/director John Gatins set about to capture that same kind of heartwarming story. Starring Kurt Russell, Dakota Fanning, Elisabeth Shue, Freddy Rodriguez, and Kris Kristofferson, "Dreamer" is the story of a little girl who wouldn’t give up on a horse and how that horse in turn helps a family heal its own wounds.

The Story of "Shall We Dance?" It is about an accountant (Richard Gene who plays John Clark) who grows increasingly bored with his life and spying a beautiful dance teacher (Jennifer Lopez who plays Paulina), decides to take some lessons to spice up his life. As the lessons progress, he finds himself falling further and further in love with the joy of dancing.

Even though John realizes that suddenly altering his schedule and staying out late a few more nights a week might cause his wife to wonder what’s going on, he can’t help himself. As John’s obsession with dancing grows, Link’s right there by his side pushing and prodding him into entering Chicago’s biggest dance competition. His wife (Susan Sarandon who plays Beverly) saw him dancing at the competition without John knowing about it and she thought he was having an affair with her. He wasn’t having an affair with her at all but he just got caught up in the joy of dancing and at the end he was learning it for his wife!

Both movies were very inspiring to watch because I was reminded of perseverance and pursing your dream in life! "Dreamer" reminded me to press on with the dream God has given me even though I may go through struggles and difficult times to get there but the key is to not give up and believe and have faith. "Shall we dance?" reminded me of two things. Someday a desire of mine is to get married but I don’t just want to marry any guy. I want to marry someone who has a passionate heart for the Lord and we can be partners in ministry to the orphan children in Romania. Another thing it reminded me of is maybe three years ago one of the ladies from my home church in Canada prayed for me and spoke a word of knowledge over me. She told me she saw me dancing with the Lord and it was God who was leading me every step. What a beautiful reminder that movie was to me, especially that is was ballroom dancing!
