the singer guy

This morning I had quite the experience going to work! I saw the “the singer guy” on the way to work this morning. My co-workers and I call him “the singer guy” because he goes around the subway and plays guitar. Let me tell you that he doesn’t sing well at all! He sings terrible but I heard he does it to make people laugh. Maybe around 3 months ago I was with two of my co-workers on the subway and we saw him singing and playing his guitar. So, we decided to video tape him from my digital camera. As we video taped him, we noticed he came closer to us and he started singing in English! We laughed so hard.
This morning I heard him singing on the next car on the pink subway line (line 8) going towards Jamsil. I had to transfer at Jamsil and Jamsil is a long transfer to get to the green line (line 2). I saw him singing as he was walking in the hall. Then he came to me and asked me all of these questions like: where am I from, how long I have been in Korea, etc. When I got on the subway at Jamsil going to work (to Gangnam) he decided to sing to me. It was the most ridiculous funny sight you will ever see on the subway! I think the only English song he actually knows is “I love you”. Then, he kept on asking me if I like his songs! He sang terrible! What was I going to say to him? Then, he started handing me all of these random papers (pictures of himself and other papers). He told me he’s live singer and his name is Jo Yung Jin Cho. Oh and he also told me his age, he’s 43 years old. Can you image a 43 year old guy singing on the subway with his guitar wearing a suit and tie? He asked me what I did here, so I told him I’m an English teacher. I gave him the Connexus business card but I shouldn’t have done that because at lunch time he called the school and he also called again when I was teaching this afternoon.
My co-workers and I had a good laugh about what happened to me this morning and even put a collage together (his name, when he was young and the one I took). However after those phone calls he made to the school I got annoyed and a bit concerned about my safety! Please pray for my safety communting everyday on the subway!
Today I have been in Korea exactly 11 months. Wow, where does the time go!? I have a little more then 2 weeks left until I go home. Time is going to fly very fast and before I know it I will be back home in Canada!
