Missions Fest in Toronto

Today I attended the Missions Fest conference in Toronto. It was held at the Toronto Congress Centre. I went with my parents and I really enjoyed our time together. We arrived around 12:30pm just in time for the afternoon session. Geoff Moore sang and led us in a time of worship and then Dr. Ravi Zacharias came and spoke on knowing God. After the first session we had a concert by the Toronto Mass Choir and the Watoto Children’s Choir from Africa. It was an incredible concert, boy can they move (both of the choirs) and the children were dressed so beautiful in their African clothes! In the evening session Matt Tapley led us in a time of worship and then Dr. Franklin Graham spoke on God’s gospel. It was quite a busy packed day! I even saw Providence College there, in the exhibition hall. That is the school I graduated from in Manitoba where I got my TESOL certificate and Bachelor of Arts degree. It was nice to bump into one of the staff from the school and catch up a bit!

I enjoyed every bit of the conference today and I’m so glad I went! I felt God speak to me throughout the day about stepping out and trusting Him. Also, when we step out in obedience God blesses us beyond measure! I think what really impacted me the most today was when the children from the Watoto choir gave their testimonies and introduced themselves to us. It was so amazing to hear of how their lives were hopeless from abandonment and then how God took them into the Watoto village in Uganda where they found hope and their lives have been transformed by Jesus! I was so touched when each child in the choir (I think there was 18 children in the choir) introduced themselves that I started to cry. Each child told us their name, their age and what they want to do when they grow up. A lot of the children told us they want to be pastors, doctors, lawyers, and other jobs. The Watoto ministry is to reach out to the abandon chidren in Africa and give them hope and raise them up to be future leaders. When the children introduced themselves I thought of the abandon children in Romania and how they too can reach their full potential in Jesus and live a life to impact their world they live in! I want to be a part of that to help them reach their potential in Jesus. I want to be a voice for them and be God’s instrument for the nation of Romania!

I am from Whitby, Ontario. I have lived in Romania for 9 years as a missionary but I am currently in Canada on a sabbatical break at this time. I have also lived in South Korea for a year and I have also been to Russia, Uganda, Albania and the Czech Republic on short-term mission trips. In 2012, God also gave me an amazing opportunity to go to Mozambique for the Harvest Mission School with Iris Ministries as well. I love children, reaching out to people who are in need and vulnerable, I have a passion to fight against the injustice issue of human trafficking and to simply share the love of Jesus wherever I go.
