romanian speaking partner

On Friday (May 25) I met with one of my students to work on my Romanian. My student’s name is Anca and she is in one of my beginner classes. Around three weeks ago we exchanged e-mails and we started chatting on yahoo messenger. I asked her if she would be interested in helping me with my Romanian conversational skills and she said yes! This past Friday we met for our second time for an hour and a half from 5:30 – 7:00pm.

I am really enjoying our time together. We are using a conversational book, I read it and then she corrects my pronunciation. We also do conversations from the book and outside of the book too. It’s interesting that I had a speaking/pronunciation partner when I was in college, when I went to Providence College where I was partnered with international students to help them with their English. Now that I’m in Romania I I’m partnered with a Romanian and I’m the student to improve my speaking and pronunciation skills!

Learning a language is very difficult. I would appreciate your prayers as I’m learning the Romanian language.

About Andrea

I am from Whitby, Ontario. I have lived in Romania for 9 years as a missionary but I am currently in Canada on a sabbatical break at this time. I have also lived in South Korea for a year and I have also been to Russia, Uganda, Albania and the Czech Republic on short-term mission trips. In 2012, God also gave me an amazing opportunity to go to Mozambique for the Harvest Mission School with Iris Ministries as well. I love children, reaching out to people who are in need and vulnerable, I have a passion to fight against the injustice issue of human trafficking and to simply share the love of Jesus wherever I go. I also love cats too and I have a cat of my own named Minnie!
