my first romanian test

Today I wrote my first Romanian test. It was on three chapters from the text book I’m doing. I studied all weekend for the test, so I felt prepared to write it today but I don’t think I did as well as I wanted to though. I wrote my test in thirty minutes and when Lidia (my Romanian teacher) checked my test I saw my mistakes. She said I did well but I felt so upset at myself that I started to cry. Lidia asked me if I’m a perfectionst and I told her I am. She told me being a perfectionst doesn’t work here in Romania and learning the Romanian language. I know, she is right and this is something I need to work on otherwise it’s going to be a huge obstacle for me to learn the Romanian language. Some of the mistakes I did in my test Lidia told me they are common mistakes students do at the beginning. I need to remember the grammar is different than English and there’s so many things that are different than English. I also need to remember to give myself grace and not to get so hard on myself too. I would appreciate your prayers for learning the Romanian language.

About Andrea

I am from Whitby, Ontario. I have lived in Romania for 9 years as a missionary but I am currently in Canada on a sabbatical break at this time. I have also lived in South Korea for a year and I have also been to Russia, Uganda, Albania and the Czech Republic on short-term mission trips. In 2012, God also gave me an amazing opportunity to go to Mozambique for the Harvest Mission School with Iris Ministries as well. I love children, reaching out to people who are in need and vulnerable, I have a passion to fight against the injustice issue of human trafficking and to simply share the love of Jesus wherever I go. I also love cats too and I have a cat of my own named Minnie!
