Romania won qualifying game!

Today I had a pretty good day. The teachers and the staff had lunch together at the Hungarian restaurant and I also marked my student’s homework today too. Around 3pm I went to Reghin for my evening class. We always seem to have interesting conversations in this class. One of the discussions was about weddings and how they celebrate it in their country.I always learn new things from my students and today I learned about how Romanians and also Gypsies marry. I did know that the Gypies have their own culture but I didn’t realize how different it was from the Romanian culture. One example I learned today is Gypies do arrange marriages which I never knew before and I was very surprised to hear they do that and still do today.

As I was leaving to return to Targu Mures. One of Einer’s students told me that there is a football (soccer) game tonight at 9:00pm. He told me it’s a very important game for Romania. Next year in June 2008 will be the Euro Cup and right now they are doing the qualifying games for the Euro cup. Tonight Romania played against Slovenia and they won!! The score was 2-0. It was great to see that Romania played so well and they have a very strong national team! I was so happy they won and the people cheering for Romania were going crazy too (it reminded me a bit of the world cup when I was in Korea last year)! I just checked the Euro Cup website. Romania is in group G and they are actually at the top of their group so far! Way to go Romania!! I would love to see Romania play in the Euro Cup next year!
