graduation in Targu Mures

This morning was my last class of this term. On Fridays I only teach one class which is a business English class and it’s in the morning from 8:00 – 9:30am. Today was my last day to get up early (well until September)! I had a good class with my students and then afterwards we had our staff Bible study at school. I always enjoy our Friday staff Bible study. It’s such a blessing to worship, pray and study God’s word together every week.
Around 1:30pm Einer and I went to a group home (they call orphanages group homes now). We took a 15 minute bus ride to “casa de copii” (house of children), which is just outside of Targu Mures where I live. My roommate Hilya has been volunteering there for three weeks now on Thursdays. When Einer and I went to the church conference in Reghin we met Iaeliha. She works with the kids at the group home and invited us to come sometime to be with the kids.
Last Friday we went to the group home and we went back again today. Last week we just brough the card game UNO and outdoor games and this week we taught four boys an English lesson (we did the alphabet, animals and a short easy to read book. They also coloured animal pictures too). I’m so glad the English lesson went well! I enjoyed being with the kids today. We left around 5:00pm, so we spent around 3 hours there. Right now I’m waiting upon God and asking Him what exactly He wants me to do with these kids and orphanage ministry here in Romania.
This evening at the school from 7:30 – 9:30pm we had our graduation ceremony. We barbecued mici and enjoyed it with buns and chips. After we ate we had the ceremony for the graduation for this term. We handed out the certificates to all of our students who attended by each level. We also gave a special award to students with different prizes. One of my students got an award. She was very surprised but she worked hard and deserted it! It was a great night and now the term is officially over. So, now the summer season starts!

About Andrea

I am from Whitby, Ontario. I have lived in Romania for 9 years as a missionary but I am currently in Canada on a sabbatical break at this time. I have also lived in South Korea for a year and I have also been to Russia, Uganda, Albania and the Czech Republic on short-term mission trips. In 2012, God also gave me an amazing opportunity to go to Mozambique for the Harvest Mission School with Iris Ministries as well. I love children, reaching out to people who are in need and vulnerable, I have a passion to fight against the injustice issue of human trafficking and to simply share the love of Jesus wherever I go. I also love cats too and I have a cat of my own named Minnie!
