my vacation in Canada

In the month of May I spontanously decided to go home for 2 weeks for the Kingdom Bound festival. Last summer was the first time I missed it since I was a child and I didn’t want to miss it two years in a row! I flew home from Romania on Wednesday August 1. Three of my Romanian friends went to the airport with me to say good-bye. It was so nice of them to do that and I’m so thankful to have close friends here in Romania. My flights went well and it was nice to see my parents and my brother at the Toronto airport when I arrived.

When I went home I was looking forward to seeing my cats again (Libby and Grace) but when I got home they acted strange around me. Maybe they were upset at me that I left them or something because the next day they were their usual selves around me. Funny cats! It was such a blessing for me to be with my cats again. I missed them a lot and now as I am writing this blog I miss them!

When I walked in my house everything looked the same but when I walked into my bedroom I thought I walked into a hotel room! I was shocked most of my belongings were gone – my closet; my drawers from my dresser, my desk and my night stand were all empty! Even all of my pictures and certificates on my wall weren’t there. It was a weird feeling to come home to a room that was mine but isn’t anymore. My bedroom will be rented out to a student in September but I didn’t know that until I got home. I’m okay with it now but I was still very surprised. Oh, and all of my stuff is in storage in the basement.

My time at home was extremely busy and a lot was packed into the two short weeks I was home! One of my friends from church got married (Dorcas married Rhett), my friend Maria and I went horse back riding, I went to Darien Lake for four days for the Kingdom Bound festival, my family had a barbecue at our house (and a pool party!) with our relatives from both sides of the family, which was a first and we also went to Toronto for an afternoon with my relatives from the States. My cousin Deanne couldn’t go to the BBQ so I went to Waterloo for the day. Oh, and I also had a coffee and dessert night with a small group of my supporters the evening before I flew back to Romania too!

My time at the Kingdom Bound festival was a real blessing for me like it always is every year I attend. It is a great time to spend with your family. I enjoy going on the rides at the amusement park but more then that to seek God and grow close to Him. The Kingdom Bound festival has things for everyone – children’s ministry, prayer ministry, seminars, concerts, etc. I especially enjoyed being in God’s presence in the worship tent. It was so wonderful! Robin Mark, Paul Baloche, Rita Springer, Jason Upton and others led worship at the festival this year. I also enjoyed going to the concerts at the main stage too and hearing some of my favourite Christian bands – Charlie Hall, David Crowder Band, Casting Crowns, Chris Tomlin, Toby Mac and Newsboys. The concerts were such a blast! It was an incredible when Chris Tomlin led worship at the main stage, especially the song "How Great is Our God"!  I looked around at one point and everyone is raising their hands and worshipping God. The main stage can hold anywhere from 40,000- 50,000 people in it and that’s just a tease of what it is going t be like in heaven!

I flew back to Romania on Tuesday August 14 (arrived in Romania on Wed. Aug 15). Sometimes it’s hard to be so far away from my family but I am so thankful for all of the wonderful friends He has given me here in Romania who have become like family to me. I felt so welcomed when I came back! More and more I feel like Romania is becoming ike my home. God is so good!

I have also lived in South Korea for a year and I have also been to Russia, Uganda, Albania and the Czech Republic on short-term mission trips. In 2012, God also gave me an amazing opportunity to go to Mozambique for the Harvest Mission School with Iris Ministries as well. I love children, reaching out to people who are in need and vulnerable, I have a passion to fight against the injustice issue of human trafficking and to simply share the love of Jesus wherever I go.
