celebrating my birthday!!

Today I celebrated my first birthday in Romania! This was probably my fourth birthday away from home and this year God gave me such a wonderful birthday beyond what I expected it to be! Today I had another regular work day at school. I had to get up at 6:45am for my 8:00am business English class, so there was no sleeping in for me, even on my birthday. I then had the regular busyness at school with our Monday morning staff meeting, my Romanian lesson and my two other classes. One of the girls in my older children’s class gave me a flower and a card. It was so sweet of her! The staff at the school I work at also gave me a card today which was all signed individually by each of them. I also received a ton of e-mail birthday cards also posts on facebook from various people who care about me from home – thanks everyone!

God gave me two wonderful celebrations this past weekend for my birthday! I think that was the first time I ever had two birthday parties! On Saturday evening, Niss our secretary invited all of the teachers and staff over to her place to celebrate my birthday. We had a blast! Bryan and Alina made this delicious cake and they sang happy birthday to me both in English and also in Romanian. We hung out and played games. We played Scramble, Uno and Taboo. It is so much fun!

Then yesterday (Sunday evening) I celebrated my birthday with my Romanian friends from my Bible study group! We also had such a great time! They brought tons of food (and another cake and they sang happy birthday to me in Romanian), we hung out and had a great time! I taught them how to play Uno. They enjoyed it! They blessed me with some gifts and just before everyone left they wanted to pray for me. I really want to thank God for giving me such an awesome small group who really care for each other and are passionately in love with Jesus! They’re a blessing beyond what I could put into words!

I just want to thank everyone for giving me such a great birthday, whether you live in Canada and thought about me here in Romania or you are right here in Romania! Thank-you from the bottom of my heart! It’s such a blessing from God to have friends and family who love and care for you so much.

Be blessed!
