my Romanian test

On Friday November 16th I had another Romanian test. I have to admit I don’t like tests at all (I don’t think anyone does!) but they do help us see how much we have learned and we can see how much we have progresed. This was my fourth test since I have started my Romanian language study and so far I haven’t been doing too well on my tests so this time when I took my test I was a bit concerned. I don’t know if you know this about me that I’m a perfectionist and when I make mistakes I can get very hard on myself. I’m learning that you cannot be a perfectionist when you learn a language! On the other hand God doesn’t want us to have such high expectations of ourselves either. So, my previous tests I felt discouraged when I didn’t do well (even if there were only a few mistakes) but God is teaching me to give myself more grace and not be too hard on myself.
I studied for this test and prayed and asked God to help me do well like I usually do but this time was different because I didn’t place that high expectation on myself. I felt at peace when I sat down to write the test and did the best I could. Afterwards when I finished the test and Lidia checked my test she seemed pleased and told me I did very well. I felt very happy not only because my teacher was pleased with how I did but because of how I did. I felt very encouraged of how much I was able to remember the grammar and use the new vocabulary in the sentences. I felt very encouraged to see that my Romanian language study is improving and progressing.
Learning a language is difficult but with hard work, perseverance and lots of grace we can learn it! God is faithful and I believe that he is helping me learn Romanian. I would also appreciate your prayers as I am learning Romanian. Thanks!
