Last Saturday (December 8) was our fall graduation at the school. The event was in the evening from 7:00 – 9:00pm and it was very successful! We had a great turn out! I think at least 60 students came. We set up chairs in the lounge and Kevin even took down the door to one of the rooms and set up chairs in there for more people to sit. It was packed and very warm in the building where we were!
The English school I teach at here in Târgu Mures, Romania has three terms (fall, winter and spring) and at the end of each term we hand out certificates to our students which says they have completed the level with their test marks and an official stamp from the school (which is important in Romania!).
We started the evening with welcoming everyone and thanking them for coming. Then each teacher handed out the certificates to their individual classes (starting with the highest level to the lowest level). I handed out certificates to three classes (Intro B, Intro A and my older children’s class). This graduation is the closest to Christmas so we sang Christmas carols and one class even sang Christmas carols in Romanian which was a treat! We enjoyed refreshments and at the end Kevin did a Christmas quiz (each group got paired with a native English speaker) which wasn’t so easy but it was fun. Oh, we finished the evening with sharing the story of the candy cane which presented the gospel. The students were very receptive to the message and enjoyed the treat afterwards!
What a great night and what a great term it was! I especially enjoyed this term because it was my first term teaching children at the school which was such a delight to me and gave me so much fulfillment! I’m looking forward to next term and I will also have another brand new kids class!!
