trip to Brasov

On Friday December 28, I went to Brasov to visit two of my friends there. I met Emily (who is a Romanian) and Dan (who is Korean) when I was in Korea. Emily went to Korea to teach English and work with the church there. She met Dan and they ended up getting married! It was such a blessing from God that I met them while I was in Korea. I met them through someone I knew at the church I attended there. When I told Emily I wanted to be a missionary in Romania she was very happy to hear that. I asked her if she would be interested in helping me with my Romanian. She was glad to and she ended up giving me lessons for four months while I was in Korea! Image that, of how awesome our God is that He arranged for us to meet in Korea!

God called Emily back to Romania to be a missionary and He also spoke to Dan’s heart too to join her to minister to the Romanian people here. They became full-time missionaries here in Romania with OM (Operation Mobilization) at their base in Brasov!

They came to Romania in June but we weren’t able to meet until just a couple of weeks ago mainly because of our crazy busy schedules! We finally set a date that both worked for us!

On Friday morning at 9:15 (Dec. 28, ’07) I left from Târgu Mures for my three hour maxi taxi trip to Brasov (Brasov is three hours south of where I live). The ride there wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be, considering we traveled through the mountains. I arrived there at 12:20pm.

Emily and Dan both picked me up at the maxi taxi/ train station in Brasov. It was really good to see them again! That day they already had plans with their mission organization for their end of the year thank-you dinner for all of the team and the volunteers they had for 2007. So, I joined in with them for the day.

It was great to meet the OM team in Brasov that Emily and Dan work with. They are all really nice. It was fun to hang out with them during the afternoon while we prepared for the event. I had a great time at the dinner. It was good to meet some more people and I even introduced myself in Romanian (one person even gave me a compliment and told me I speak very well in Romanian which was the first time I heard that when I introduce myself to someone so it encouraged me a lot!).

On Saturday (December 29) we spent the day sightseeing together. Another Emily who is on their team joined us for the day. It was fun to have her along with us. Brasov is such a beautiful city; especially that it is right next to the mountains!

We had a great time sightseeing but it was very cold outside (we spent the majority of the time outside so we felt the cold even more). We looked around at the centre, went to the Black Church, walked through the forest (it was beautiful with the snow on the trees!) and we ate at a few places for cake and later we had lunch. Brasov even has a KFC there too! We took some great pictures!

I took the maxi taxi back to Târgu Mures at 6:15pm. I got home around 9:00pm. I had a really nice time in Brasov (even though it was really cold there!) and it was great to see Emily and Dan again.

Oh, yeah when I got home I had a couple of nice surprises at my apartment! Our landlord came on Friday when I was in Brasov and treated us well! He fixed our shower hose holder and our light in the bathroom. He fixed the plumbing in our kitchen so now we finally have hot water!! He also gave us a brand new stove!!! Wow, the blessings of God!!!!!! Praise God for such a wonderful landlord! Vio is a blessing from God to have as our landlord! He takes such good care of us but most of all it is God who is taking such great care of us!!
