day in Toronto

On Tuesday May 6, I spent the day in Toronto visiting some of my friends and supporters. Before I left for Toronto I stopped by at Little Blessings Nursery school to say hi. I volunteered there and did some supply work there for six months before I went to Romania. It was nice to stop by and say hi to the teachers I used to work with and see them for a bit even if it was only for a short visit.

I took the Go bus to Toronto and did three different visits in the city. My first visit was with one of the couples that support me. I stopped by their house for around an hour and a half. We had a great visit! I shared my pictures and I also shared some of my experiences in Romania too. They also went to Romania on a short-term mission trip last fall for ten days on the west side of Romania. They showed me their photo album and shared about their trip. It was wonderful to hear about their ministry trip to Romania and all of what God did in their lives during that time! They had originally planned to go to my open house but then something came up so they couldn’t come but it was great to meet with them one on one and have that time with them. I really enjoyed it and I felt so encouraged too!

Afterwards I met with my friend Lavina for around an hour. I met Lavina when I was in Korea and I haven’t since yet since then so it was so nice to see her again! We volunteered at an orphanage together and went to the same church when I was in Korea and became really good friends. Lavina is actually from the east coast (Nova Scotia) but she recently got a teaching English job in Toronto after she went to school for her TESOL certificate. She sent me an e-mail just before I left Romania and told me she moved to Toronto and asked if we can get together when I’m home. Everything worked out and we were able to re-connect again! It was a blessing to see each other and catch up a bit!

My last visit in Toronto was at Calvary church. I used to volunteer at Calvary church for their ESL program for international students every Tuesday evenings so I wanted to stop and say hi. It was so good to see everyone again! It was great to see Judy and Emmanuel (they are the coordinators) and some of the other teachers again. I really enjoyed volunteering there even though it was a long haul every week to go there.

What a blessing it was to spend the day in Toronto and re-connect with some of my supporters and friends! Thank-you Lord for giving me such a wonderful day and filled with encouragement!

In 2012, God also gave me an amazing opportunity to go to Mozambique for the Harvest Mission School with Iris Ministries as well.
