I got a Romanian apartment mate!!

As
many of you know I had been praying for my next roommate (actually apartment
mate because we have our own rooms) for months now and I also asked prayer for
this too. On July 28, Hilya who was my former roommate left Romania and moved back to Canada as she felt her time was finished in Romania. I
didn’t want to live alone because it is always nice to have company at home so
I prayed that God would send another house mate for me.

I
think I started praying for my next roommate back in February. I not only
prayed for God to send any girl for me to live with but someone whom I can be
friends with and speak Romanian with at home. It was on my heart to specify ask
God for a Romanian girl to live with because I know living with a Romanian will
help my language skills improve much faster then what it is now.

On
Wednesday August 6, Kevin my director asked me if I am still interested in
getting another housemate and if I would be interested in living with a
Romanian girl. Right away I said yes because this was what I had been praying
for. The next day she came to visit me to meet me and see the apartment I live
in. She expressed she was interested but she still wasn’t sure so my director
gave her two weeks to make her decision.

On
Sunday August 24, I called home and spoke to my parents on the phone and also a
couple my family knows very well too. It was so nice to talk to them and hear
their voices! They put me on speaker phone. Everyone asked me if she had made
her decision yet to move in with me and live with me. I told them she didn’t
decide yet. I expressed to them that it would be great for us to live together and
I hope that she would decide to move in. Before we hung up they wanted to pray
for me. It was very encouraging for me. Everyone individually prayed for me
over the phone! They prayed that she would make her decision soon and would
move into the apartment and live with me. They also prayed for me personally
and also for the ministry I am doing here in Romania. I am so thankful for such
supportive parents and friends who pray for me.

The
next day (Monday August 25th) I was very busy with the team from England but I
still made sure I checked my phone for calls and texts. In the afternoon I
received a text from my director saying that she moved into my apartment! Wow,
God sure answered that prayer quick! Like my Nana always says God is never in a
hurry but always on time.

My
new apartment mate is Iulia! She is a young Romanian girl (I think she’s 23
years old). We have lived together now for three weeks and already it has been
such a blessing for us to share the apartment together! She is a great girl.
She seems very sweet and caring. With my former apartment mate she wanted her
own space and we didn’t spend much time together at home so my first year in Romania often I
felt very lonely at times. I am very grateful that Iulia wants to spend time
with me, talk to me and get to know me! Of course she wants her own space as
the same with me too. We all need that at times but at other times it is good
to have company and share our lives with each other.

Another
blessing for me is being able to speak Romanian at home! Iulia told me she wants
to speak English at home too because she doesn’t speak very well and she wants
to improve. However I want to speak Romanian at home because that is the main
reason I wanted a Romanian house mate. So, we made a compromise. Every Sunday
and Tuesday we are only going to speak in English and then the rest of the week
we are only going to speak in Romanian. I already have seen improvement in my Romanian
conversational skills and I know it will keep on improving everyday! I am also
encouraged too that my Romanian will be improving much faster than it has been
in the past because I now have daily opportunities to speak the language!

Thank-you
for your prayers for praying for my new apartment mate! I am grateful that God
has brought Iulia into my life for us to live together! Our God is such an
awesome provider and He knows exactly what we need and when!
