I miss my computer!

If you have a computer you may not realize how much you need it. I didn’t until my computer crashed a little more then a month ago. I didn’t realize how much I took it for granted in having a computer and now that my computer doesn’t work anymore I now realize how incredibility thankful I am when I did! In July my computer was running very slow and it kept freezing up. I actually noticed it was doing that for at least for two months but finally I wanted to do something about it because it took forever to just open up my e-mail.

One of my friends here suggested to me to get my computer reformatted (re-install windows) and he offered to do that for me. I took his advice and he was also very kind to back up all of my pictures and music for me. After I got my computer back from him it was very fast but it still gave me this "video driver error". I told my friend about that, he told me there’s nothing he could do about that because it is in the hard drive of the computer. He also noticed when he looked at my computer that it was hotter then it should be and told me something is wrong with it and it might be overheating the whole system. I asked him how long it would last for and he told me that it’s unpredictable and can be anywhere from a couple of weeks, to months. My friend reformatted my computer a couple of days before I went to my church camp. When I got back from my church camp the first thing I did when I got home was plug in my computer (I had it unplugged just in case there would be any storms or anything). As soon as I plugged in my computer all the lights went off. I tried to turn it on and I couldn’t. The last week of August when the England team was here I took my computer to a computer repair place to get it checked if there was anything that could be done. They looked at it and told me the mother board needs to be replaced and it would cost me 400 Euros to replace it which is around $600 CAD. They told me even if I decide to replace it, the computer might only last me for another year and then they advised me to look into getting another computer.

I decided not to get my laptop computer repaired because it is very expensive and honestly I don’t think it is worth spending that kind of money to repair it especially that it won’t last longer then a year. This year I am planning on going home for Christmas which I’m so thankful! When I go home I will look into getting a new computer.

I really didn’t realize how much I needed my computer until now both for ministry and just using it on a daily basis. I use my computer for writing my newsletters, working on my blog, keeping in touch with people by e-mail and making phone calls through skype or even just storing my pictures on it from my camera. For now I am using the computer at school until I go home for Christmas. For now when I’m at home I have been doing a lot more reading since my computer crashed! I am thankful that I can use the computer at school but I still do miss having my own computer. Well at least it is only three months away until I go home for Christmas.

So, if you have your own computer don’t take that for granted and remember it is a blessing to have it! 🙂
