Today we had a free day with the children in Sabolciu because the children were so happy to see Aubrey that it just wasn’t possible to do an English class. I didn’t mind not having English class because it is always great to have free time with the children. When I can have more free time with them I am able to bond with them a lot more! I was so happy for Aubrey to see the joy the kids had when they saw her!

Aubrey asked the children if they like me (I was with another group of children at another place when she asked this question and I had idea she was going to ask the kids that). All the children told her yes and they all had smiles on their faces and told her that they really like me. Later in the car on the way back to Oradea Aubrey told me this. Aubrey also told me that it is not very often the children in Sabolciu really a missionary even if they have visited a couple of times. I was glad to hear that the children like me even though I already knew that but it felt nice to know that by hearing it from someone else. I believe it is God who has brought this special bond between us especially in such a short amount of time with working with these kids. I love working with them! They are all very special!!

Oh, on the way to Sabolciu today we were talking in the car about learning Romanian. Norbi asked Aubrey if she knows Romanian. She told him that she knows some. Then Norbi told her something that really surprised me! Norbi told Aubrey that I know Romanian and speak it well. I was very surprised because I have never got a compliment from him about my Romanian before so that was very encouraging to me to hear that!

When I got back from Sabolciu I called my friend Geta who goes to my new church (Salem) and she is also my small group leader too for our young adult’s small group on Sunday evenings. I was still looking for a cat sitter because Magda told me she cannot do it so I called Geta to see if she would be interested in helping me because I knew she lives in the same neighbourhood as I do (in Rogerius). I didn’t know if Geta could help me or not but it doesn’t hurt to ask.

When I called her for some reason I felt nervous when I asked her if she could help me. At first she couldn’t talk to me on one of her phones so she called me back on her other one. When she called me back I quickly explained the situation that I’m going to Hungary next week for a conference and I need someone to look after my cat for me while I’ll be away. She wasn’t sure if she could do it or not because she is a nurse and works different shifts but then she told me it would be better to meet in person and talk about it so we decided to meet at 9:00pm after she finished her work.

So, I met Geta at the Rogerius Piaţă tram station at 9:00pm and then we went to my apartment. I introduced Minnie to her and she seemed glad to meet my cat. I was very happy too that the whole time Geta was at my apartment Minnie didn’t seem nervous or afraid around Geta which was an answer to prayer too because Minnie is often very timid around people she doesn’t know. I showed Geta everything she would need to do to take care of Minnie while I will be away (her food, water and litter box). I even had instructions typed up both in English and in Romanian for whoever would take care of my cat for me when I go on trips. Geta told me it wouldn’t be difficult and she doesn’t mind to stop in at my place once a day when I’ll be away. My heart was filled with so much joy when I heard that Geta can help me take care of Minnie when I’ll be in Hungary for the conference!! What an answer to prayer!! Thank-you Lord for providing such a caring cat sitter for me!

About Andrea

I am from Whitby, Ontario. I have lived in Romania for 9 years as a missionary but I am currently in Canada on a sabbatical break at this time. I have also lived in South Korea for a year and I have also been to Russia, Uganda, Albania and the Czech Republic on short-term mission trips. In 2012, God also gave me an amazing opportunity to go to Mozambique for the Harvest Mission School with Iris Ministries as well. I love children, reaching out to people who are in need and vulnerable, I have a passion to fight against the injustice issue of human trafficking and to simply share the love of Jesus wherever I go. I also love cats too and I have a cat of my own named Minnie!
