This morning I had an early morning because I had to leave to go to my director’s house at 8:00am. Yesterday Karen called me and asked me to help her with some administration things so I told her I could help if she needed the help. Thankfully I was able to get a ride to her house so I didn’t have to get the tram at 7:00am.
When I got to Cornel and Karen’s house I then realized that Karen really did need help and that’s why she asked me to spend the morning at their house to help her with some administration stuff for the team that is coming the first week of July. Karen seemed overwhelmed with all of the administration stuff she still needed to do for this team and today is her youngest daughter’s birthday too so she wanted to also spend the day with her family to celebrate her birthday which is understandable that she needed help.
So, I spent the morning typing up the meal schedule, daily group assignments and I also worked on the schedule too. This team will be the largest I have ever worked with because there will be 31 people coming here! Actually there will are three different groups that make up this team (there is a couple coming from California that are thinking about moving here and working with us full-time, there are 8 people from Atlanta, and the rest of the team are from Texas). This team will be flying out from the States on Friday July 2 (arriving on Saturday July 3) and then they will stay until Saturday July 10 (they will actually be flying out on Sunday July 12 but they will spend a day in Budapest first).
This team will be split into three groups in the mornings where they will be going to the baby hospital, the Tinca gypsy village and the Sabolciu gypsy village (I will be with this group) and then in the afternoons they will be involved with the orphan children’s ministry from CP2 and the foster care ministry that Pathway to Joy Ministry works with. I am looking forward to working with my first team with PTJM this summer! We will also have another team at the end of July and then another one in August as well as summer interns too so it will be a busy summer!
In the afternoon I went to Sabolciu gypsy village with Mircea, Norbi, Aubrey and Aubrey’s Mom Lori. Our time was short there today as we only spent an hour and a half there but it did fly by fast. I decided today not to do any more English classes the rest of the summer or at least until the end of August because it is just not working with gathering the children together for class in the summer time. Most of the children don’t seem interested in sitting classroom when it is hot outside and besides I’ll be away for a couple of weeks and we’ll have teams visit Sabolciu throughout the summer so I told Norbi it is just best to have a break from English class during the summer and then start again in the fall.
I brought the pictures I developed yesterday for the people I made who live in Sabolciu. The kids and the parents that I gave the pictures to seemed happy that they got pictures but then there was a huge uproar because I didn’t give everyone else pictures! My goodness!! So, then the rest of the time I spent there today I felt dragged around and took pictures of everyone as everyone told me to take pictures of their families, friends and individual people. I understand they all want pictures but I also don’t think they understand from my point of view that it is expensive to develop pictures here in Romania! In fact the price for developing pictures is double then what it cost in Canada! I really need wisdom from God of how to deal with this situation because I want to have respect in the village but yet at the same time I need to think how to best handle my monthly budget that is not going to be overspent beyond my budget.
In the evening I finished working on one of Karen’s documents (the transportation document) for this team that is coming in July. I also watched “So You Think You Can Dance” TV show as well. It was nice to watch a bit of TV because I needed to unwind from my busy and a bit of a stressful day.
