Today I didn’t do much. I had a pretty lazy day. I slept in, practiced speaking for the video I want to make for my church in Canada and worked a bit on my blog. I guess my cat Minnie was happy I was home today because she doesn’t like to be alone.

Yesterday I wished “Happy Birthday” on facebook to Trudy (she was my mentor I had when I was at Gateway Training for Cross-Culture service school which is a missionary training school). I noticed her husband was not on my friend list on facebook so I thought I would send a friend request to him because he has been the director of the school just after I graduated and they pray for me and all the graduates so I wanted to connect with him too.

Today I was able to chat with him a little bit on facebook. It was so neat to reconnect with him and hear how the school is going! I graduated from there in July 2002. I can’t believe that it has already been a little more than 8 years since I graduated! Gateway is a great school that is serious about training people who have a desire to serve on the mission field. The school is in Langley, British Columbia and I did my practicum placement in St. Petersburg, Russia. It was such a valuable experience for me. It was my first time to be away from home for 7 months. I learned and grew a lot during that time.

The director of the school told me today that the school is doing very well. It was so encouraging to hear there are currently 150 graduates and 80% of them are serving on the cross-cultural mission field today! It definitely shows the school is very effective to hear of those results and God is doing some great things through the school. Every month I receive a newsletter from the school. It is great to read the newsletters because I can see how things are going at the school and they have updates from different alumni too who are serving on the mission field too (sometimes I am in it).  So, it was a lazy day but a good day!  🙂

About Andrea

I am from Whitby, Ontario. I have lived in Romania for 9 years as a missionary but I am currently in Canada on a sabbatical break at this time. I have also lived in South Korea for a year and I have also been to Russia, Uganda, Albania and the Czech Republic on short-term mission trips. In 2012, God also gave me an amazing opportunity to go to Mozambique for the Harvest Mission School with Iris Ministries as well. I love children, reaching out to people who are in need and vulnerable, I have a passion to fight against the injustice issue of human trafficking and to simply share the love of Jesus wherever I go. I also love cats too and I have a cat of my own named Minnie!
