I spent the day at home. This afternoon I saw something interesting outside my apartment window. There was a group of people dressed in orange costumes. Some of the men played drums; one man blew a whistle and collected money. One man wore an orange costume but he was very tall as he walked he was obviously taller than the others. I thought it was quite interesting so I took a picture of them because I never seen it before. One of the men saw me take a picture, he pointed to me to come down and give them money but I didn’t want to so I just stayed in my apartment. I guess these people do this just during the holidays to get money. Oh and Minnie my cat went crazy as she tried to see what was happening and she just so scared! My poor cat!
In the evening I went to my director’s home for our staff Christmas party. It was such a great evening! It was so nice to get together with all the staff that work with the different projects because very rarely does that happen during the year. I wish we would have got a group staff picture. I thought about that after the party. Maybe we’ll there will be another opportunity again soon. I think there were 32 people there which includes staff, spouses and children. We had some great food and great fellowship together!
After we ate dinner we gathered in the living room to sing carols, share our answers from the papers we pulled from the bag and we also prayed together too. I thought it was really neat how my director Karen wrote different questions and expressions to share with everyone because you really got to hear people’s hearts. Mine was “what was an unexpected joy that you had this year”.
I shared how my Mom blessed me with organizing the project for collecting hats, mittens and scarves for the gypsy and foster children and I did not expect her to do this so that really blessed me. Other papers included: what are 3 words that describe your spouse or best friend, what is something that you learned and grew in this past year and there were others but I forget what they were.
A year ago I also attended the staff Christmas party but then I was not staff but deciding if I would like to work with Pathway to Joy Ministries when I stayed with my director’s family and checked out the ministry. Now it has almost been 9 months already that I have been working with Pathway to Joy. Where does the time go?! Wow, what a year it has been with a new beginning in this new chapter in my life!
