Today we gave the children in Sabolciu a Valentine’s Day party! Karen who is my director
went to Canada to visit her parents for a week. She came back last week and she was able to bring back a package for me from my parents. This time the majority of the stuff in the package was not for me but it was for the gypsy children. I am so grateful that my director was able to bring back a package from my parents because my Mom filled it to the overflowing with Valentine’s Day candy, balloons and other decorations that we were able to use for the party that we gave the kids today! If it wasn’t for my Mom doing that we wouldn’t have been able to give the children the party today.
I asked Norbi and Mircea if they gave the children a Valentine’s Day party in the past and they said no they didn’t so this was the first one we did for them. The children were so surprised when they walked into the church today when they saw all the balloons and the other decorations! We sang songs, did a craft (I cut out hearts and wrote “Dumnezeu este dragoste” which is “God is love” in Romanian. The children drew pictures on their hearts and enjoyed putting stickers on them) and at the end all the children got heart suckers.
We were going to give the kids snacks but I didn’t have enough because a lot more kids
came then we expected so we’ll do snacks another day. I think the children really enjoyed their surprised party and I did too even though I felt a bit stressed with handing out the stickers (it was new to them and I just felt like they were demanding to me which really stressed me out. Oh, well this is life!). Happy Valentine’s Day everyone!
This evening I watched one of my favourite TV shows – Extreme Makeover Home Edition. It was another great episode! It was about a family that flies to different countries like Haiti to provide clean water with portable water purifiers. What an inspiring show to see the difference this family is making! One of my supporters sent me a note on facebook and told me that she researched their ministry called “Mobile Air” and she told me from their website it definitely looks like they are a Christian family which is awesome to see how God has blessed them in this incredible way!
