Today I went to two churches because I wanted to check them out with my friends. The first church I went to was called “Prietenia” which means friendship in Romanian. I went there with my friends Sorina and Salomea who are volunteers with Pathway to Joy. The service was from 9:30 – 11:00am. The church reminded me of my former home church that I went to when I lived in Târgu Mures (the size of the church and how it was in a room upstairs). It was a nice church but I was surprised they only had one guy playing the guitar for the worship time. I was also quite surprised that no one welcomed me to their church either.
The second church I went to was called Logos which is from the Latin language and means “word” referring to scripture. The church is located at the same room as the first church where I was at so I didn’t have to go anywhere. My friend Ana goes there so she invited me to check out her church. The service was from 12:00 – 2:00pm. I met a woman named Esther who is a missionary here (I can’t believe I forgot where she’s from). I was able to talk to her about some of the stress that I have been facing this weekend. She was very helpful and encouraging. I was also very thankful that Esther translated for the sermon for me too. The church was even smaller than the first church but they were a bit friendlier and they had a great worship band too.
Throughout the day it felt like such an emotional day for me. I mean the last time I did this much crying was when my Nana passed away. I spoke to my friend Stefan on the phone about everything that has been going on. He told me that God probably really wants to use me in a big way here in Romania and that’s why I’m going through such a spiritual attack right now. I agreed with him but it’s definitely not fun going through spiritual battles. Stefan encouraged me not to give up and he also prayed for me too.
In the evening I had a Skype call with my parents and also with my Pastor and his family. My parents invited my Pastor and his family over to our house for lunch because they just came to our church last November and my parents wanted to share with them more of what I’m doing here. Around 10:00pm they called me on Skype. It was really nice to finally meet him and his family even if it was only on the webcam. I really enjoyed talking to them and it was a nice way to end my day.
