Today was a pretty busy day or at least the evening was. Around 4:15pm my parents and I left for Waterloo to meet Sorina and her husband Angelo for dinner at Swiss Chalet. We were supposed to meet them around 6:30pm but unfortunately the traffic was just awful that we ended up being 15 minutes late. Thankfully Sorina and Angelo understood why we were late because of the heavy traffic. The funny thing was they ended up arriving a few minutes after we did and they are the local ones!

We had a wonderful time with Sorina and Angelo. They are the couple that is very involved with getting the Canadian office opened up for Pathway to Joy Ministries. In Canada the name will actually be “Pathway to Joy Canada” once it is all set up. They are both very nice. We also found out that they are Romanian themselves and are from Timisoara which is just a couple of hours south from where I live in Romania. They left Romania during the Communist years and they have been back to visit a couple of times. They even have a daughter named Andreea!

My parents and I had such a great time with Sorina and Angelo. We ended up being at Swiss Chalet for around two hours! It was so great to meet them and learn more about the process of how things are going with opening up Pathway to Joy Canada. They are working with a good lawyer. Sorina told us that they should be able to get incorporated within the next couple of weeks or at the longest a month. The next step is for them to apply for the registered charity number which will take much longer and unfortunately that will not be completed before I leave for Romania.

When I heard from Sorina that Pathway to Joy Canada will be completely finalized before I leave in June I was not shocked because she gave me heads up about that yesterday in an e-mail. Sorina also told me why this other mission organization cannot temporary help me out and the reason is actually because they got in trouble for doing this in the past and they don’t want to risk it again. Sorina and Angelo seem very supportive of what I do in Romania and they have expressed interest in helping me in whatever they can do which was encouraging to hear.

After we met with Sorina and Angelo, we went to my cousin’s Aaron and his fiancée Lyndsay’s Stag and Doe. It actually started at 8:00pm and we were an hour late but it was alright because our meeting with Sorina and Angelo was very important and the Stag and Doe went pretty late. It was so great to see my cousins again, my aunt Sharon, my aunt Phyllis and my uncle Eugene. It was nice to meet Lyndsay’s parents and other people too.

The Stag and Doe was basically an event to hang out with people and to support Aaron and Lyndsay’s expenses for their wedding and honeymoon. I found out that they will be going to Ireland for their honeymoon for a couple of weeks. I’m sure that will be a nice vacation for them. My brother Jonathan usually works until midnight but today he was able to get off at 9:00pm which was great that he could still come. He arrived around 10:30pm. I am glad that Jonathan was still able to come even though he was late.

I spent the night at my Aunt Sharon’s apartment. It was great to spend some time with her and just talk. We had some really good conversations that were quite encouraging. She even told me about a couple of dreams that she had of Nana in heaven. She told me that she looked like she was in her twenties and she was even swimming in a large swimming pool which is wonderful because she was afraid of the water for the longest time. There are no fears in heaven! I miss Nana a lot but I’m so glad to hear that she is enjoying her time in the glories of heaven right now! One day I will get to see her again but until then I want to enjoy every moment here and fulfill everything God wants me to do for my life.

About Andrea

I am from Whitby, Ontario. I have lived in Romania for 9 years as a missionary but I am currently in Canada on a sabbatical break at this time. I have also lived in South Korea for a year and I have also been to Russia, Uganda, Albania and the Czech Republic on short-term mission trips. In 2012, God also gave me an amazing opportunity to go to Mozambique for the Harvest Mission School with Iris Ministries as well. I love children, reaching out to people who are in need and vulnerable, I have a passion to fight against the injustice issue of human trafficking and to simply share the love of Jesus wherever I go. I also love cats too and I have a cat of my own named Minnie!
