We started off our day with devotions with all of the volunteers. Every morning at camp

I am with some of the translators.

we did this which was great to start the day in the word of God, worship and prayer. The other mornings we also did a time of stretching with the children before breakfast.

The rest of the morning we had a time of team building which was a great time to get to know everyone. We had 18 people on the team this year for camp. This year we have a younger team and lots of family members on it. I think its wonderful has returned to Romania again to lead this camp team from her church. I just love how God brings each team to Romania and the uniqueness of how the teams are put together!

For our team building time we were split up into groups of six and then we went into the forest to do different obstacle courses and activities which really taught us to work together and trust each other more. I enjoyed doing the different activities with the team and translators. It was a good chance to get to know each other a bit more too. I really believe one thing that’s so important when we serve together is to be unified as one team and I believe God did that throughout the week.

Around 3:00pm the children arrived from the orphanage. There were 47 orphan kids

Some of the team dressed as clowns!

(ranging in ages 6 – 20 years old), two boys were sons of one of the teachers and also three teachers came too. Everyone was very excited when the kids arrived (including me!). Once the kids found their rooms, heard the camp rules and then we invited the children outside for a welcome party. The team did an incredible job with putting together a carnival for the kids! They loved it!! There were lots of fun activities to do, balloons, prizes, face painting and some of the team members even dressed up as clowns.

After we ate dinner we had our first camp chapel. The worship was so great. Dan (he is the project/ camp coordinator) spoke a short introduction message on the theme of the week which is the adventure to heaven. The scripture verse theme of the week is from 1 Corinthians 9:24b “…Run in such a way as to get the prize”. The rest of the week the children will learn different Biblical truths of the adventure of the race of being a Christian.

After chapel we had our evening activity. The rest of the week we also had a special

Sorina and I

activity in the evening after chapel. After we said good-night to the kids the team had their team meeting and the rest of the volunteers also had a meeting to talk about the day. This is something that we thought would be important to do every day and I am glad that we did it. We had a great first day with the children!
