Today was our first full day with the children and it went really well. This morning we met

in our small discussion groups after breakfast. It was the first day we met in our groups at camp and the rest of the week we continued to meet. This year at camp there are six groups. All of the groups are split up into different age groups and the older age groups the gals and guys are also split so we can have better discussions with the kids. This year I am with the girls ages 14 – 19 and there are twenty one people in the group including both the kids and the volunteers.

For our small group today since it was our first time meeting at camp we decided to take a bit of time to get to know each other. Then we had a short time of worship and did our discussion. Today the topic was on prayer. A couple of the girls on the team shared a bit of

their testimonies. I shared a bit too how God sees the desires of our heart and two answers to prayer that I received which was God bringing my parents to Romania and getting Minnie my cat. It was a good discussion for the first day.

The rest of the morning we had a time of crafts and sports. For the craft we made bags out of duct tape. I thought that was such a neat idea! After lunch we got into split activity groups that we’ll be in for the rest of the week for the afternoons. We did different obstacle courses in the forest and we also did archery too. Peyton who is one of the guys on the team is a great archery teacher because when he taught me how to properly do it I was able to shot my arrow on the target!

In the evening we had chapel. Today and the rest of the week the younger children (ages

14 and younger) had their own little chapel downstairs. I helped with the younger kid’s chapel. I enjoyed being with the younger kids but I have to admit I did miss the worship time that the older kids sang upstairs. Today the kids wrote their prayer requests down on little sheets of paper and then taped it to the cross which I thought was so neat. Oh, I just love when kids pray! It was a great day!

About Andrea

I am from Whitby, Ontario. I have lived in Romania for 9 years as a missionary but I am currently in Canada on a sabbatical break at this time. I have also lived in South Korea for a year and I have also been to Russia, Uganda, Albania and the Czech Republic on short-term mission trips. In 2012, God also gave me an amazing opportunity to go to Mozambique for the Harvest Mission School with Iris Ministries as well. I love children, reaching out to people who are in need and vulnerable, I have a passion to fight against the injustice issue of human trafficking and to simply share the love of Jesus wherever I go. I also love cats too and I have a cat of my own named Minnie!
