Sunday August 21, 2011

This morning I went to church. It was a great service. I thought the worship was great and also the sermon too. The message was a great one on how God gives us passion for things and for people. I am so grateful of how God has given me a passion to reach out to the orphan and gypsy children. I really believe it is God who has put this in my heart because if I would have thought about moving to Romania 15 years ago it would never have crossed my mind! I am often blown away how God has much greater plans for us than we do!

Today was the last day to sign up for the church’s retreat that is happening next weekend. I decided to go because I think it would be a great opportunity to get to know the people at the church I’m currently going to. This has been something that has been quite difficult since I have moved to Oradea which is just finding a church to fit in and to feel at home where it is like a church family. I would appreciate your prayers as I go to the retreat from Friday August 26 – Sunday August 28, ’11. Thanks so much!

Chris and Sue who are visiting missionaries from England invited me to lunch and spend the afternoon with them today. They are here for six months (they came to Romania in May and they will be here until October). I had such a great time with them! They are such a wonderful couple. They are currently staying at a foundation near the Hungarian border so we had lunch there. Sue cooked a delicious lunch with chicken, potatoes and vegetables. After lunch they showed me around and we even picked plums from one of their plum trees!

They really have such a heart for missions. They are now in their late 50s/early 60s but they have been on the mission field quite a lot throughout their lives. They spent 15 years in Zambia, Africa, and another 15 months in Namibia, Africa and they have also come to Romania on numerous short-term trips even before the Revolution. It is always so inspiring and encouraging for me to meet people who have been on the mission field as career missionaries and have such a passionate heart for the nations!

I am so grateful of how God has put them into my life here and now. I’m looking forward to spending some time with them next weekend at the church retreat which will be great too! In fact they are the ones who encouraged and challenged me to go on this retreat! I praise God for the many friends that He puts in my life especially at the exact times when you need it the most at the specific season you are in. God knows exactly what we need and when!

The rest of the day I stayed home and did some things at home like my laundry, my blog, my e-mails and other stuff. I was very happy that I got four new entries written today on my blog! I am really trying to keep it updated more often.  So, I’m trying but I can’t promise that I’ll be able to always keep it updated! It was a great day! 🙂

About Andrea

I am from Whitby, Ontario. I have lived in Romania for 9 years as a missionary but I am currently in Canada on a sabbatical break at this time. I have also lived in South Korea for a year and I have also been to Russia, Uganda, Albania and the Czech Republic on short-term mission trips. In 2012, God also gave me an amazing opportunity to go to Mozambique for the Harvest Mission School with Iris Ministries as well. I love children, reaching out to people who are in need and vulnerable, I have a passion to fight against the injustice issue of human trafficking and to simply share the love of Jesus wherever I go. I also love cats too and I have a cat of my own named Minnie!
