Today it was a good day and a bit tiring too. This morning I woke up around 7:20am to join my group to pray for the day. It was a great to start our day off with prayer. When we prayed for the retreat and the church I really sensed that they need God’s healing because the church recently went through a church split.

Yesterday when I talked to a couple of people about this it seems to be quite a painful topic for them to talk about. I don’t know the details why it happened but when I heard just over half of the church left that has to be quite difficult for a lot of people. I really believe that God needs to do a healing work in this church and unify them once again as one body of Christ.

In the morning we had a session where we talked about Viată Nouă (New Life) church

Sue and Chris.

(general things about the church). We started presenting our partners and we had a time of prayer. The Pastor’s wife from Bucharest shared a sermon about being God’s champions and then the Pastor shared a sermon too but I didn’t understand much of his message.

We had planned to all go to see the waterfalls as a group from the church since we have free time in the afternoon but plans changed when the Pastor from Bucharest shared his sermon a lot longer than we expected it too and then it ran into lunch time. Chris and Sue from England still wanted to go to see the Bohodei waterfalls even though the church group didn’t go today. I honestly was not sure if I would get another opportunity to see the waterfalls so I decided to go with Chris and Sue.

One of the ladies who works at the retreat centre told us it would take two hours to get to

The point where we had to turn around.

the waterfalls and then another two hours to get back to the retreat centre. I was very surprised that it actually took us three hours and we didn’t even end up seeing the waterfalls! When we got to the point where you are suppose to climb up to go in the direction of where the waterfalls is it was too steep to climb for Chris and Sue so they didn’t want to go further.

I cannot tell you how disappointed I felt when we didn’t end up seeing the waterfalls because I was really looking forward to it. Sue was thinking of staying behind and then Chris and I were thinking of just us going ahead however I felt some rain drops and we didn’t think that was such a good idea to go ahead if it rains in the mountains it wouldn’t be too good at all.

I don’t think I would have gone ahead to see the waterfalls even if it didn’t rain because Chris was hesitate to go and I definitely didn’t want to go alone because that’s a safety issue. I have to admit I just felt so disappointed though that I didn’t see the waterfalls because I just hate that feeling of not being able to do something when you look forward to doing it.

Besides this disappointment of not seeing the waterfalls I did have a good time with Chris

The river.

and Sue. The walk was tiring but it was beautiful as we walked along the river up the mountain. I took lots of great pictures of the river running through the mountain! We also got lots of exercise today and I definitely felt it in my legs so I guess it wasn’t all that bad!

The rest of the day I was able to meet some more people that arrived today. I was surprised that I was able to speak in Romanian as I met and spoke to people today so that was encouraging! Around 5:00pm we had our evening session. At this session one of the Pastors spoke about the importance of belonging to a small group at church.

I am thinking of joining my friend Paula’s group again which was the group that I was a part of before. I find it hard though when they speak so fast and I try to understand the conversations. I told that to Paula and she told me that I also cannot isolate myself from people otherwise I wouldn’t be able to build relationships in the church which is true.

After our evening session we ate a delicious dinner and the retreat centre even made us a cake which was a nice surprise! Around 9:00pm we had a campfire. This was something I wasn’t expecting at all and I didn’t come prepared for it however it wasn’t that cool when we sat around the campfire. I actually really enjoyed the time we had around the campfire. We sang some worship songs, I finally got to talk to my partner Lavi to present for tomorrow and I joined in with a group for a great English discussion on English accents!

It turned out to be a good day! I am so grateful for the time I had to get to know more people and enjoy God’s beautiful creation in the mountains! Tomorrow I get to see my Minnie (my cat) again! I miss her. I hope she is doing well because I am not able to call my friend Eva since my cell phone doesn’t have any signal at all right now. I’m sure she is doing fine!
