Sunday October 30, 2011

Today I really felt disappointed in myself because I completely forgot that I was suppose to turn the clock back last night so I went to church an hour early this morning  and then by the time I realized it was daylight savings time last night it was too late to go back to church.

I was quite surprised though there was no one at church even for prayer or the worship band practicing for the service because my home church in Canada would have their doors open at least an hour before the service. I did receive a text message from my church on Friday with an invitation about a special evening service with information about the small groups so a thought crossed my mind that maybe they might have cancelled the morning service because of that.

I decided when I came home from church that I would listen to an online sermon on the internet and spend a bit of time with God at home since I missed church today. I was curious if my home church in Canada (Christian Life Centre, Ajax Ontario) had done any updates to their website lately so I checked that out. I was so excited to find out that not only did my church do updates but it is like a brand new website and there is a media page where you can listen to all of the sermons online!

I had no idea that my home church in Canada had their sermons posted up on their website and they have been doing that since March of this year. I decided to listen to one of the sermons and it was so good to hear Pastor Sam’s voice again! It was a great sermon on family. Hearing the sermon definitely made me miss my church family in Canada. I am so thankful that now I never have to miss any of the sermons from my home church in Canada! What a blessing from God!

This morning at my home church in Canada they had their second Sunday for their annual mission’s conference. They prayed for all the missionaries that they support including me (even though they are not currently financially supporting me because they are waiting for Pathway to Joy Canada to open up so I will be under a registered charity number again).  I’m so grateful for their prayers and support.

My church also had “The Taste of the Nations” after the service which is where everyone brought in a dish of their ethnic food of the nation they are from. My Mom is from the United States so she brought in her American dish of Chili and corn bread and for dessert she brought little apple pies. My home church in Canada is pretty diverse with a lot of different nationalities that are represented especially from the Caribbean islands so “The Taste of the Nations” is a great opportunity to enjoy everyone’s ethnic foods.

I went to Sabolciu this afternoon for a couple of hours to spend time with the kids there while Dan and Steve had their Sunday service with the adults. Steve brought a friend today along with him. His name is Larry and he is visiting with the Haines family until the beginning of December. I felt really, really bad for Larry because some of the kid’s behaviour was just terrible.

I mean a couple of the boys kept swearing at him which was very rude and disrespectful especially to someone they just met that day. I told them to stop but they just wouldn’t listen to me or Salomea. I just hope the next time Larry visits the village the children will be more respectful to him and also to any other visitor too.

I had a relaxing evening at home. I watched Extreme Makeover Home Edition. They switched the TV show to Fridays now so I was able to watch it today instead of waiting until the following week to watch it. I just love, love this show so much because it is so inspiring to watch! I also spoke to my parents for a couple of hours on Skype too which was so nice!

About Andrea

I am from Whitby, Ontario. I have lived in Romania for 9 years as a missionary but I am currently in Canada on a sabbatical break at this time. I have also lived in South Korea for a year and I have also been to Russia, Uganda, Albania and the Czech Republic on short-term mission trips. In 2012, God also gave me an amazing opportunity to go to Mozambique for the Harvest Mission School with Iris Ministries as well. I love children, reaching out to people who are in need and vulnerable, I have a passion to fight against the injustice issue of human trafficking and to simply share the love of Jesus wherever I go.
