This morning I left home at 8:00am and I arrived home at 7:30pm so it was definitely a

Christmas gifts for the children!

very long and exhausting day however it was such a great day with the team! When I walked into the House of Joy this morning I was amazed when I saw the three huge mountains of wrapped Christmas presents for all the children! The team had spent time yesterday evening sorting all of the Christmas gifts into the three different Christmas parties they will be will be doing this week and I felt overwhelmed by all the gifts that people donated!!

In the morning we finished unloading the container and sorting through the donations for each project. Then in the afternoon we sorted through the Christmas gifts for each party and packed them into garbage bags to make transportation easier to take them to each party. Today we organized and packed 94 gifts for the orphan kids, sorted through 65 gifts for the gypsy kids and tomorrow we still have another 57 gifts that we haven’t started yet for the foster families.

The team decided to give each of the children three parts to their Christmas gifts that they will all receive just like the wise men gave three gifts to Jesus. All of the children will receive a clothing gift (like a track suit), a “wish” gift that the kids personally requested (e.g. a lot of the younger girls asked for a doll and some of the older kids asked for an MP3 player) and the third part is a homemade quilt and also a hat and scarf. It’s awesome to see all the donations that came in to bless all the children at Christmas time!

I honestly didn’t realize how much preparation there was for doing these Christmas parties

but all of this preparation creates such great team bonding between us as we work together! This afternoon Mircea and Norbi took Madaline and Bruce grocery shopping for the food packages that all of the families will get tomorrow at the Săbolciu gypsy village. I felt kind of disappointed that I didn’t go shopping for the food packages but it still turned out to be a good afternoon because I got to spend some time with Diane and Cathy from the team. I am also thankful for the bonding time that I got to spend with Sindi (she is an older orphan and she has been helping the team this week). Sindi has been very helpful this week and it has been great to spend more time with her!

We are all very tired. We would appreciate your prayers that we would get the proper rest and we will be able to evidently serve and love on these precious kids the rest of the week. Thanks so much for your prayers!
