Christmas Party with the Gypsy Kids!

Wednesday December 7, 2011

This morning we all met at the House of Joy to finish organizing and packing up the

Six happy kids at Sabolciu!

Christmas gifts for the children at the Săbolciu gypsy village. Today was our very first Christmas party and went really, really well! We spent the afternoon at the Săbolciu gypsy village. The team and the staff did a drama of the Christmas nativity story. I didn’t know that I’d be part of the drama so that was a surprise but it was kind of fun to act out the Christmas story with the staff and the team! The children loved it and I think it was the first time they saw a drama in their village with a backdrop and costumes!

Some other things we did for the Christmas program were: we sang Christmas songs, four children recited their poems they learned and the children did a craft where they coloured a picture of Joseph, Mary and baby Jesus. The children did such such a great job with their singing, reciting their poems and colouring! The kids were also happy to get small toys and candy in their bags after they finished colouring.

At the end of the program we called each child individually by name to come up to the front to get their Christmas package of gifts. It was so precious to see the smiles on the kid’s faces when they took their Christmas gifts and they knew it was

just for them! After the children got their gifts they all went home and then was the fun part when we (the team and staff) were able to go into their houses to see what they all got!

It was so much fun for me to watch the children open up their gifts and see what they got! The theme the team had for the collection container was “Project Christmas Joy”. This collection project definitely brought a lot of joy to these precious kids because not every Christmas they are able to get a gift and this year they not only got one but three! My heart was filled with joy as the kids ripped opened their wrapped gifts.

All of them were so happy and they all had a huge smile on their faces! A lot of the younger girls got dolls, some of the younger boys got toy cars and trucks, some of the boys got soccer balls and a couple of them even got MP3 players! The parents were all overjoyed too because they not only received Christmas gifts for all of their children but they also received food packages for their family! The parents were so thrilled to receive food especially to have over the holidays. I’m so grateful for everyone who gave from Florida to bless the kids with Christmas gifts and also for the families to receive food packages too! How awesome it is to bless people especially during the Christmas holidays!!

In the evening I relaxed at home. I finally got to watch the recent episode of Extreme

Ruben and Florica holding their new doll. This is so sweet!

Makeover Home Edition. It was so tragic how this family lost one of their sons because he ended his life from being bullied so much at school however it was very inspiring how this family is spreading the word to end bullying by a petition that EMHE began. I signed up for the petition and I’d like to encourage you to sign up too.

The petition is called “Stand together” and here is the link to where you can sign the petition stand together to help stop bullying:
