This morning I woke up quite tired because I had a terrible night sleep. I just lay in bed last night and tossed and turned trying to get some kind of sleep. As I tried to sleep I kept thinking about the “end times” video that I watched yesterday and I kept getting these negative and bad images that came to mind that might happen to me in the future.
It was like I became overcome with this fear however I know beyond a shadow of a doubt that these thoughts were not from God but from the enemy. I don’t remember what time it was when I finally decided enough was enough of me trying to get myself to fall asleep because I knew just laying in bed wasn’t going to solve anything at all.
At that point I decided to get my Bible and my i pod and spend some time with God. I knew this was not a physical battle but a spiritual battle so spending time with the Lord is the most important thing especially when we go through spiritual battles. I decided to read through different scripture passages especially the book of Psalm.
Psalm 91 was one of the Psalms I really took time to read through, mediate upon, pray through and really proclaim. I felt very strong to do this because I learned last week at church that this is not talking about physical images but spiritual images. Sometimes when I pray through scripture I like to use the book of Psalm a lot because David taught me so much how he expressed himself to God in his prayers.
Psalm 91 speaks about when we dwell in God’s shelter, He will cover us with His feathers and underneath His wings we can find refuge. This Psalm also speaks a lot about God’s protection and how He will command His angels to guard us from the enemy. After I spent some time with God reading His word, proclaiming scripture and in prayer I decided to try to go back to sleep but this time with praise and worship in my ears as I played my i pod. Thankfully I was able to get some sleep after that.
It is my prayer with you as I share some of my life experiences on my blog that I will be an encouragement to you especially in your relationship with God. Ever since I started going to the international church back in September of this year God has been teaching me so much about prayer. It says in the Bible that we do not wage war against flesh and blood but against it is a spiritual warfare (Ephesians 6:12).
Ephesians 6:10 – 20 speaks about this how we need to put on the armour of God on everyday and take our stand against the devil’s schemes. Personally I need to learn to do this daily but I believe by God’s grace He is teaching me how to do this more and more. God calls His children “warriors” as an angel of the Lord told Gideon “The Lord is with you, mighty warrior” (Judges 6:12), so let’s raise up warriors of God and take our stand against the devil!
This afternoon I went to the post office and picked up a package from my aunt Sharon that she sent for a Christmas gift for me. One of the items that she sent me in the box was a gift for Minnie (my cat). She sent a toy laser pen for pets which is Minnie’s first time getting a toy like this so I wasn’t sure how she would react to it.
Today I must have played with Minnie for over 30 minutes straight so she definitely loves her gift! It’s quite neat because there are five different kinds of pointers to use: 1) a simple one, 2) a butterfly, 3) an ant (or some kind of bug), 4) a smily face and 5) a mouse. I have to admit it was a lot of fun to play it with her and she was so cute too how she interacted with it with so much energy!
This afternoon around 3:30pm I thought it was so interesting to see another “carolling band” march around my neighbourhood because you probably would never see this in Canada! I think this was the biggest group yet! There must have been at least 10 or 11 men in this group (3 drummers, a whistler, dancers with costumes and other groups I have seen have a trumpeter too).
Minnie (my cat) got so scared when she heard the band that she ran and hid! I have to admit I laughed so hard when I saw her hide in two different spots in the apartment. First I found her on top of the fridge near the back and the second hiding spot I found her was inside the cabinet where the glass doors are. Oh, I laughed so hard because I thought it was so funny. As we say in Romanian “Săraca Minnie!” (translation – “my poor Minnie!” however I’m not talking about money but like “my poor baby”. It’s an expression).
I even tried to sneak a couple of videos when this carolling band came to my neighbourhood but I had to do it really careful so they wouldn’t see me otherwise I would have to give them some money. I can honestly say life is never boring in Romania!
Here are the videos:
