“Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. I say to myself, ‘The Lord is my portion; therefore I will wait for him.’ The Lord is good to those hope is in him, to the one who seeks him.”                                                                              – Lamentations 3:22 – 25

Today was the second day of the workers training retreat with my church. It was quite a long day (it began at 6:30am and it ended just after midnight) but it was such a great day! I woke up at 6:00am, then at 6:30am we began with a time of worship and then we had a short devotional time. Then we ate breakfast and after that we had our first teaching session for the day which was on spiritual mapping.

The whole morning we had our second talk which was the teaching on “spiritual mapping” and it was really good. I don’t know if I heard a teaching on this topic before so I really learned a lot. This is basically studying over maps and areas and then praying over them. It is a tool for prayer intercessors to help understand the spiritual climate to know how to pray and advance God’s kingdom. The ultimate goal for doing spiritual mapping is for effective evangelism.

After the seminar on spiritual mapping was finished we had a lunch break. After we had our lunch break we were right back into our third talk which was another big one. Our third session was a seminar called “understanding deliverance”. I don’t think I have ever heard a seminar on this topic either so this was also really, really helpful as well. Deliverance is basically setting someone free, casting out demons, removing curses and breaking yokes.

After the third seminar we then split up into ministry groups which are areas where we desire to serve in at the church. God has really put a burden on my heart to pray more so I decided to join the prayer intercessory team. Then after a short meeting with the different ministry groups the men and women split up into two groups for a short discussion on Christian conducts.

Then when we finished our discussions on Christian conducts it was time for our dinner break. After we ate dinner we all went back to the room where we have been having our meetings to end with a time of prayer and anointing by our Pastor to seal the work the Lord has done throughout the retreat. By the time the prayer time was over it was just after midnight. We were all very tired by the end of the day but at the same time we all felt very encouraged and challenged to go out to do what God has put on our hearts.

It was such a great weekend, I’m so thankful for everything that I learned and also for the opportunity to get to know more people at the church as well. I feel so blessed by God to be a part of this church and it is my prayer that I will continue to grow in the Lord as I now start to serve in this church.
