April 7, 2013
Dear Family and Friends,
I hope you are doing well! Can you believe that we are in the month of April already? Wow, where does the time go? I hope you had a wonderful Easter weekend with your family!
Serving at the Săbolciu Gypsy Village
After I got back from Africa I continued to go to the Săbolciu gypsy village to minister to the children and the families there along with the other missionaries who are also living in Oradea as well. When I was at the Harvest Mission School in Mozambique it was emphasized a lot to go low and slow with humility with love and to also learn the heart language of the community that you are ministering to. God really placed a deep desire on my heart to start learning the gypsy language so every time I went to the village I tried to learn new words and phrases with the children which I found quite fun to do and the parents also seemed to find it quite amusing too! I now feel it is extremely important to not only continue to become more fluent in the Romanian language but to also learn the gypsy language as well because this is the community of people that God has called me to minister long-term.
When I was in Mozambique last year God increased my desire and burden on my heart to step out and pray for people more so this is what I did a lot when I went to the village. I found that when I asked people if they wanted prayer for something they never once refused but they always were glad we had asked them to pray for them for healing, for relationships and anything else that was on their heart. I always enjoy hearing children pray because they inspire me so much with their child like faith they have in the Lord. I just enjoy every single moment that I have with these precious children and families. They inspire me so much with their giving hearts and their love for God. It was also a real blessing to see a new born baby that was only a week old right before I returned to Canada too!
Growing in intimacy with the Lord
When I returned to Romania after my time at the mission school in Africa my hunger for God continued to increase more and more to the point where I felt like I had fallen in love with Jesus all over again on a daily base. At the end of December I began to journal with the Lord which is basically like writing out your prayers to God but also taking time to listen to His sweet still small voice. Over the last three months God has taught me so much about slowing down and taking more time to listen to Him and He has taught that He desperately wants to speak to us. The Lord has spoken to me a lot about His love for me, my identity in Him, to trust in Him more and a lot about His destiny and calling on my life as well.
From my journaling time with Father God, He has completely overwhelmed me with His love and stirred in me a much deeper hunger and desire to spend more time with Him in the secret place of His glorious presence. God has spoken to me a lot that everything flows out of the secret place. I believe God wants us to live in the overflow and not in our lack and when we do that then He can truly use us for His glory. God has been teaching me a lot about the prophetic when I pray for people and one time my pastor even asked me to lead a prayer on revival too.
“Without hunger for God you will die, become desperate for God. He is your sole purpose and focus (Psalm 73:25). He becomes our only desire”. – Rolland Baker
Going into a new season of ministry
Before I went to Africa I knew in my heart that God was going to bring me into a new season in the missionary journey that He has for me. I did not receive any specific direction while I was there. I actually thought that God was leading me to serve with Iris Ministries but it turns out that God had completely closed that door.
God has really been teaching me a lot lately to come into that place of rest with Him, to wait on Him in the secret place and as I did that then I was able to hear His heart and receive direction for the next step. At the end of February of this year God had opened up another door for me to visit the YWAM (Youth with a Mission) base in Târgu Mureş which is actually the city where I used to live. I went there for three days and I really felt in my heart it was very divine appointment from God as I reconnected with the directors, the team there and I also saw a couple of the ministries they do.
With great joy I would like to share with you that on Tuesday March 19th, I received my acceptance to serve as a missionary with YWAM! I will be a mission builder full-time volunteer staff from May until September and then at the end of September I will be taking my Discipleship Training School program there at the base. Some of the ministries I will be involved with are: working with the Roma (gypsy) people, students, Romanians, doing discipleship, evangelism and mercy ministries.
I will fly back to Romania on May 6, 2013. I am required to raise my entire support of $750 per month. My budget is available upon request. Would you prayerfully consider being my monthly supporter? If you cannot partner with me on a monthly basis at this time, would you consider making a special gift towards for my living expenses for Romania or for the DTS program?
• I praise God for the opportunity to serve at the Săbolciu gypsy village in the last 3 years!
• I praise God for how He has been stirring in my heart to spend more time with Him!
• I praise God for His divine guidance and direction in my life for the next season in my life!
• For God to continue to increase my heart’s passion for the Roma gypsy community.
• For God to continue to provide for everything that I need to return to Romania.
• For God to continue to speak to me and prepare my heart for the future He has for me.
I would like to thank-you for your continual encouragement and prayers! I appreciate it so much!
