April Romania Update!

April 10, 2014

Dear Family and Friends,

I hope you are doing well! It is hard to believe that we are already in the month of April and the spring has begun. Here in Romania the trees are already starting to bloom so spring is in the air!

Knee surgery and recovery
On Tuesday January 7th, I had my knee surgery at the Nova Vita private hospital here inIMG_1200-crop Târgu Mureş, Romania. It was a very short surgery of only 20 minutes but I didn’t end up going home until Thursday. It turns out that my meniscus wasn’t torn after all so my doctor just cleaned up the ligaments. I also want to praise God that it wasn’t necessary to do a reconstruction surgery on my ACL too! I was very impressed with the medical care at the hospital and the kindness of the nurses during my stay there.

A week after my surgery I started my physical therapy at Kinetica clinic. My physical therapist Ovidiu was really great and he consistently pushed me beyond my limit. Bea also worked with me a lot too. I definitely learned to persevere and push myself these past few months! I’m so thankful of how God has given me new strength and teaching me to depend more on Him these last few months.

DTS Outreach
I felt very disappointed back in December when I could not go on my DTS outreach with my class that I did my lecture phase with Imagebecause of my unexpected knee surgery but I am so very grateful of how God had turned everything around for His glory! My heart is filled with so much gratitude of how God had opened up the doors for me to visit the YWAM base in Cluj, Romania from March 16th – 23rd to see about the possibility of doing my outreach with their class. I had a wonderful week and it was a real blessing to meet the students! There are eight students in this class. Half of the class will be doing their outreach in Serbia and the other half will going to Uganda.

With much joy in my heart I would like to share with you that I have been officially accepted to be a part of the team going to Uganda!! Wow, I feel so blown away and a bit overwhelmed with this amazing opportunity that God has opened up for me and I never dreamed of going back to Africa! I will be a part of a small team of eight people (three of them are staff and five of us are students) and we have five different nationalities within our team (Romanian, Swiss, Finnish, American and Canadian). I am currently at the Cluj base right now until April 20th for the last two weeks of the lecture phase, the dates of the Imageoutreach are from April 21st to June 6th, and then a week of debriefing with the graduation on June 13th.

We will be at two different locations during our time in Uganda: the Buvuma Islands and Arua. We will be doing lots of evangelism, ministry with churches, with children, in different villages and in refugee camps with the Congolese people. We will also end our time after Uganda helping with the Central European YWAM staff gathering in Hungary too. If you would like to help out with the costs of my outreach please let me know. The total cost is: $2,651 CAD. Thanks!

”He says, Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.” – Psalm 46:10

7 Years in Romania!
On April 4, 2007 I moved to Romania to begin my journey of being a long-term career missionary. Wow, I cannot believe that it has been 7 years since I first moved to Romania!

I just want to rejoice when I think about how faithful God has been all of these years. I’m so thankful of how God gave me the blessing to teach English for 2 1/2 years in Târgu Mureş and along the English school to work with orphan and gypsy children, I’m grateful that ImageGod gave me the opportunity to live in Oradea where I was able to reach out to orphan kids and teens and also along the Roma gypsy community at the Sabolciu gypsy village which is where I really started to develop a heart for these precious children and families, then in the fall of 2012 God gave me an amazing opportunity to go to Mozambique where I went to the Harvest Mission School with Iris Ministries, then last year God led me to serve with YWAM in Târgu Mureş and now God is sending me back to Africa where I will do my DTS outreach in Uganda with the YWAM base from Cluj! Yes, God is so good!!

Wow, I’m really encouraged to see how the Lord has been such an amazing shepherd in my life and I’m also expecting by faith for even greater things to come in the future!

Praise Reports!
• I praise God for His healing touch and giving me new strength through the difficult times!
• I praise God for the doors He has opened up for me to do my DTS outreach in Uganda!
• I praise God for His faithfulness since He has brought me onto the mission field 7 years ago!

Prayer Requests:
• For God’s complete healing, restoration and strength for my left knee. I had four blood tests done to see if I have rheumatoid arthritis or not. Two out of the four tests were positive. Please stand with me in faith for God’s complete healing, freedom and deliverance over my life from any sickness or disease. I really need a complete breakthrough in my health.
• For God’s full financial provision for my DTS team to go to Uganda for our outreach.
• For God to bring me into deeper levels of intimacy with Him every single day.

I would like to thank-you for your continual prayers and encouragement. It means so much to me!
