November 2014 Romania Update

November 11, 2014

Dear Family and Friends,

I hope you are doing well! Can you believe that we are already in the month of November? Wow, where does the time go! I hope that you are enjoying this beautiful fall season that we are now in.

YWAM National Conference
I love so much being a YWAMer and especially being a part of the YWAM Romania family! I went to my second national YWAM conference in Romania which was held this year in Medias. It was from September 3rd – 6th. It definitely felt much more like a family

reunion this year compared to last year! All five YWAM bases in Romania came together to remember YWAM’s history in Romania, and to ask God to give us a fresh vision for the future. There were wonderful speakers, including Mike Oman and others. God’s presence was evident and it was so good to come together as a family.

I’m also very excited that God is leading a Romanian couple and a girl from the Medias base to plant and open up a brand new YWAM base in the city of Craiova (it’s in the west south part of Romania) by next year! I feel so very blessed to be a part of this YWAM Romania family and I’m excited to see what God is going to do here in this nation that He has called me to!

Constanţa DTS Team
The DTS team from Constanţa, Romania came to Târgu Mureş which is the base where

I’m serving at to do a mini outreach here from September 14th – 20th. There were six girls on this team (2 Romanians and 4 Americans). There were three staff and the rest were students. During the week the team was here they were very busy with different ministry activities – ministry to the homeless, reached out to some beautiful Roma gypsy children at Cold Valley village, prayed for the sick at the cancer hospital and did a coffee house at the base. This was also my very first time that I was able to be the point person for a team without working with another staff. It was a very stretching week but I am so very grateful for this opportunity that God gave me to serve alongside of them because it was a really great experience for me and I also really enjoyed it lot too especially being an all-girls team.

My Grandpa went home to the Lord
On Friday October 24th I received news from my family that my Grandpa (my Dad’s Father) had gone home to be in the Lord the previous night. He died at 11:30pm on

Thursday October 23rd and it was a very peaceful time when my relatives were all able to say good-bye to him to him just before he died. The visitation was in Waterloo, Canada on Tuesday, October 28th and the funeral service was held in the chapel the same day.

I was not extremely close to my Grandpa but I am very grateful he was a part of my life for 36 years. Grandparents are very special people and they are a gift from God. My heart is also filled with so much gratitude that he financially supported me for almost 4 years which meant so much to me as I serve as a missionary here in Romania.

“Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time. Cast all your anxiety on him because cares for you.” (1 Peter 5:6-7)

YWAM Base Staff Retreat
This fall I was able to attend my very first YWAM base staff retreat with the Târgu Mureş base! It was from Friday October 24th – Sunday October 26th in Prod, Romania. This weekend retreat came as a perfect timing because four new people just joined our staff

team (Dan and Dorina who will be leading our next DTS, Lindsay and Marianna). Michael and Mitzi who will be two of our students in our next DTS also joined us for the weekend as well.

We all had a wonderful time together as we enjoyed some great time of fellowshiping with sharing stories, testimonies and we enjoyed the beautiful outdoors in the small village of Prod. For me personally the best part of our time together was when we spent time in the presence of God as we worshiped Him, spent time in prayer and waited on Him. I was so encouraged how God had spoken to us during the weekend. We also listened to a great teaching on trust and trustworthiness by Andy Stanley. I feel so very blessed by God to be a part of this amazing supportive community and team!

Praise Reports!
• I praise God for opening up the doors for me to serve with the YWAM community!
• I praise God for the opportunity that He gave me to coordinate the Constanţa team!
• I praise God for the gift of my family and relatives who are all very special to me!

Prayer Requests:
• For God to help us put together all of the last minute preparations for our next DTS.
• For God to continue to enlarge my heart for the nations and a deeper heart for intercession.
• For God to continue to teach me to come into that place of complete dependence on Him for everything especially as I’ll be a DTS staff for the very first time.

NEWS FLASH! Our next DTS starts on November 16, 2014! It is not too late to apply to our next school. We are still praying for more students. If you are at all interested in joining us for our next school please contact me, thanks so much!

I would like to thank-you for your continual prayers and encouragement. It means so much to me!

Blessings,
Andrea

About Andrea

I am from Whitby, Ontario. I have lived in Romania for 9 years as a missionary but I am currently in Canada on a sabbatical break at this time. I have also lived in South Korea for a year and I have also been to Russia, Uganda, Albania and the Czech Republic on short-term mission trips. In 2012, God also gave me an amazing opportunity to go to Mozambique for the Harvest Mission School with Iris Ministries as well. I love children, reaching out to people who are in need and vulnerable, I have a passion to fight against the injustice issue of human trafficking and to simply share the love of Jesus wherever I go. I also love cats too and I have a cat of my own named Minnie!
