It is hard to believe that after months and months of praying in this DTS School and all of the preparations that had to be done for this school to be made possible it finally begun on November 16th! I truly believe that this school is a miracle from God especially with all of the spiritual warfare that the YWAM base where I’m serving at had gone through this past summer in preparing for it. I really believe that it was another lesson of perseverance that God taught all of us during this time.
There are so many miracles that God did for this DTS School to happen which includes everything from bringing in brand new DTS leaders (Dan and Dorina Ghiurca) that officially joined the base in September and they have committed long-term to being DTS leaders at the Târgu Mureş base which it so very exciting! God bought Lindsay Richard to our base to serve as a staff on October 15th which was a supernatural connection through the YWAM Constanta base. After months of waiting for Marianna Shapovalova to come back to Romania from Ukraine (she was a DTS student last year) and join our staff team she arrived back on October 23rd.
Two of our students already had their plane tickets for the date that the school was originally supposed to start which was on September 28th but I was so very grateful that they still came 6 weeks early to volunteer with us. I believe that God put it on my heart to send Janet Swarts in an e-mail in August to challenge her to come to Romania to take the DTS this fall and I was thrilled when she said yes! The other student Zsuzsanna Harmath is a girl from Târgu Mureş, Romania but she has lived in Budapest, Hungary the last few years and she found out about this DTS from the last class. It is a very small class but I really do believe that God has chosen and handpicked every student to be in this class.
On November 16th DTS 2014 officially began with our traditional Love Feast meal as we
welcomed our students and had a time of celebration as we started our journey together. The teaching topics so far have been on: Hearing God’s Voice, the Father Heart of God, Identity in Christ and Evangelism. The students have also done a couple of local outreaches to a homeless ministry, at a cancer hospital and reached out to the Roma gypsy children at the Corbesti village. For their two week Christmas outreach (December 20th – January 4th) they are ministering to a Roma gypsy community near Sibiu.
This is also my very first time being a DTS (Discipleship Training School) staff and being on a leadership team like this so it is definitely a whole new area for me and it was a big step for me to step into. Unfortunately I am not able to be a part of the two week mini Christmas outreach because I went to Canada for the Christmas holidays (I haven’t been home in Canada for Christmas since 2009 so I really wanted to go this year) but I will be a part of the 6 week outreach that will be in Albania from February 21st – April 5th, 2015.
I am extremely excited to see the transformation that will take place during this school – in my life, in the other staff and also in the student’s lives! God is so very faithful! I truly believe that we are all going to see the Lord move mightily during this DTS School! Please do uplift this DTS School in your prayers because it definitely does make a huge difference when we cover ourselves in prayer. Thanks so much!
