February 24, 2015
Dear Family and Friends,
I hope you are doing well! Can you believe that we are already towards the end of the month of February? Where does the time go? I hope you having a great winter season so far!
My Trip to Canada
The last time I was able to go home to Canada for the Christmas holidays was in 2009
which was five years ago so it has been a long time. I flew back to Canada on December 19th and I returned to Romania on January 14th. My time in Canada was extremely busy especially that it was the holidays with all of the traveling to visit my relatives but it was definitely worth it especially with all of the reunions that I had with my cousins that I haven’t seen in a long time.
On January 10th I had a prayer get together where I had a wonderful opportunity to connect with some of my supporters and share my heart with them of what God is doing in my life right now especially in this new area of human trafficking the Lord has been birthing in my heart. It was such an encouraging evening and I feel so very blessed by God to have such an incredible supportive “home front team”.
My Crazy Adventure Back to Romania!
My scheduled flight from the Toronto airport was supposed to be at 6:00pm on Monday January 12th but it didn’t turn out to be the usual normal trip back as I had expected it to be. Everything was just fine with the check in but then after waiting at the airport in the plane for a couple of hours the pilot had made an announcement that everyone didn’t expect at all of the flight being canceled because they couldn’t repair a mechanical problem.
At the moment I felt overwhelmed but I am truly grateful for how God had taken care of me at the time because I didn’t have to pay for my hotel, I met a wonderful woman who used to serve with YWAM, I was given food vouchers as well and I even got to see my Dad at the airport the next day before I left. My flight from Toronto ended up being late so I had missed my connection to Bucharest and I ended up going to two airports in Germany in one day (Frankfurt and Munich). I am so grateful that when I did finally arrive in Bucharest that I didn’t miss the very last bus to Târgu Mureş to return home.
Denmark Outreach Team
At the YWAM base where I serve we had a team from YWAM Sjellebro, Denmark that
came for their DTS outreach from January 7th – 31st. There were ten people on this team (four staff and six students) and they were all such an incredible blessing to us. During their time in Romania they did conversational English classes with high school students, coffee house, Roma gypsy ministry, led worship, street evangelism, they were a part of our 24 prayer time that we did at the base and they also blessed us with a delicious Danish dinner too. They were all wonderful and I miss them already!
“You will keep in perfect peace him whose mind is steadfast, because he trusts in you. Trust in the Lord forever, for the Lord, the Lord is the Rock eternal. “– Isaiah 26:3-4
On outreach with the DTS class
The lecture phase has now finished and the outreach phase has begun. It has truly been a
blessing from God to have been a part of the journey with the students that God has took them on and I’m excited to see what the Lord will do during the outreach part of the DTS. When the staff team prayed about the outreach location one of the countries that God spoke to us was Albania. On our outreach team we have seven people (three staff and four students) and there are four different nationalities (Ukrainian, Hungarian, American and Canadian).
We are in Albania for around six weeks. The first half of our time we are serving with the YWAM Durres base where we will be serve at a local church, work with the youth and the elderly, do a children’s camp, pray for the sick at a hospital. The second half of our time here we will serve with the YWAM Elbasan base where we will work with a Roma gypsy community there along with the children and the families.
Special Fundraising Note:
I am in Albania from February 22nd – April 8th with the DTS class for the outreach. I am one of the staff on the team. Each person needs to raise 1,100 Euro ($1,560 CAD) towards the trip. Please let me know if you are able to help in any way towards the outreach cost.
• I praise God for the opportunity to spend the Christmas holidays with my family this past year.
• I praise God for how He always is so very faithful to take care of me and watch over me.
• I praise God for blessing to work with teams and serve with the Discipleship Training School.
• For God to give me an open and teachable heart during my time that I am in Albania with the outreach team. This is my first time being a staff on a team. I really desire to grow in the area of leadership, to be more confident and also to depend on God more during this time.
• For God to continue to break my heart for the things that break His heart. (Last year in the fall God has been birthing a new vision in my heart on human trafficking – more on that later).
• For God to fill me with His perfect peace at this time and also for the things that are on my heart for the future that I do not know the answers to yet.
