For three and a half days we had an in house staff retreat at the YWAM base where I am
serving at. We started on Monday April 20th, and we ended on Thursday April 23rd in the morning. It was really great to be able to reconnect with each other after a busy DTS season that we just had especially to be able to pray together and to also share our visions of what God has been stirring in our hearts to do in the future here at our base as a team/ ministry and also in our lives as well.
On Monday morning we listened to a teaching by Andy Stanley call “Re:solution – The Better Question” which was based on the scripture from Nehemiah 1:1-11 and it was about the question “What breaks your heart?”
There were other questions that Andy Stanley said that I really liked which were:
• What captures your emotions?
• What is one thing that is on your mind that is so disturbing that you just can’t get it off your mind?
• What should be done around me?
Other statements he had said that I really liked which were:
• People who blame things don’t change things.
• “Jesus taught: Devotion to God is measured in terms of devotion to others.”
• “Nehemiah’s broken heart was by divine design but he had no idea what hung in the balance of his broken heart.”
• “You have no idea what hangs in the balance of your decision to embrace the burden God has put in your heart.”
We used this teaching video as a launching point for our discussions during our in house
staff retreat which was so good to hear what God has been stirring in everyone’s hearts in our small team. I just love how we are starting to “dream again” and starting to birth new visions for our future at the base for the different ministries that God is birthing in our hearts to do. Some of the things that we are praying into are to do two DTS’s (Discipleship Training School) a year. One of them to be a Justice focused one which is what God has put on my heart and the other one to either be a classic/core one or a worship focused one and to also do mini DTS schools as well.
Other ideas that were mentioned were: to continue to host outreach teams that come to our base, to continue to do prayer ministry at the hospital, to start doing missions adventures teams from our base which we will help mobilize Romanians into missions in their own country, to expand our coffee house ministry into a community of artists, to do a School of Arts, to bring back the School of Worship, to have a worship band, to map the city and the country of Romania to see where the needs are and to do a children’s club especially to reach out to the hurting and vulnerable children.
I think it is just awesome that we as a base staff team are starting to dream again and birth
new visions but we obviously cannot expand and see these things come to pass unless God is not in it and without our team growing. God must totally take the lead of our staff team, of the base and of the future of the YWAM base here in Târgu Mureş! I truly believe when God is leading us and we are all in complete surrender to His leading then He will continue to break our hearts for what breaks His, then we will continue to birth new visons but not ours – His and then more labors will join this team to bring the light and hope as we run into the darkness in this city and in this nation.
Will you please join us in your prayers for the YWAM base here in Târgu Mureş, Romania to continue to be God’s light house to the city and to this nation? Will you please pray that God will bring a supernatural increase to the base (e.g. in the ministries, more staff to join our team, financial provision, more students for the DTS, more outreach teams)? Will you pray for the Romanians to rise up and to feel a passion in their hearts for missions in their own nation? Will you prayerfully consider either joining our staff team, bringing an outreach team here or to do a DTS here?
I just want to say thank-you so much for all of your prayers. We really appreciate it a lot!
