In August from the 3rd to the 10th, the YWAM Târgu Mureş base where I serve we were very blessed with a Missions Adventures team from YWAM Constanta, Romania. They came with a very large team of 33 people from two different youth groups from the local churches in Constanta. There were 23 youth on this team (9 boys and 18 girls) and 10 staff. There were even three young children on the team who came with their parents. The bus driver stayed in Târgu Mureş with them to do some driving for the team in the town but I think we were all surprised that he also brought his wife along too.
During their time they spent at our base they were quite busy and they served with one of
the local churches here (New Generation which is actually my home church) for their summer festival city outreach here in Târgu Mureş. At the beginning of the week the youth had some teachings on what missions is all about and team building activities and then the rest of the week they served with the New Generation church to help with their summer outreach event. The team was split into three different smaller teams to be able to help in the three different neighborhoods (Dambu, Unirii and Tudor) the church did the outreach. In the mornings they helped with the children’s ministries and in the evenings they did an evangelist drama called the “sin chair” at the different locations for their “street parties”.
This team was definitely the largest that I have ever worked with since I have not only
served with YWAM but since I have been serving God on the mission field. Unfortunately it was not possible to get to know every person who was on this team but I really did enjoy getting to know a few of them and especially just to watch throughout the week how the youth stepped out of their comfort zones to be able to love on the children in the mornings and they also did an amazing job with the drama they performed to share the gospel at different locations too.
For me personally it was a real blessing to serve and work alongside my home church with this team as well. At the beginning before they had arrived there were some misunderstandings but I am so very thankful that in the end it was a great week for everyone and we were also able to learn from this experience of working with them too! I really hope in the future that we (the YWAM Târgu Mureş base) will also be able to bring a mission adventures team from Târgu Mureş to other cities in Romania as well to do an outreach with another YWAM base or a church as well because I really believe that it is so very important especially for the youth to catch the vision of God’s heart for missions.
