February Romania Update!

February 24, 2016

Dear Family and Friends,

I hope you are doing well! Can you believe that we are already at the end of the month of February now? It is hard to believe how quickly time goes by! I hope you had a wonderful start to the New Year!

DTS Outreach in the Czech Republic
The last time I went on a DTS outreach I was a staff for the first time which was from February – April 2015 when I went to Albania and this time I was the leader of the team which was a huge stretch and jump for me from being just a support role staff last time. There were three students on the team who were: Matt (he is from New Jersey, USA), Eli (he is from Texas, USA) and Betty (she is from Romania but she is Hungarian). This was IMG_5665our original “core” team and then there were different DTS staff from the YWAM base that joined us throughout the outreach time.

We flew to Prague on Dec. 6th and the outreach was until Jan. 30th. During the outreach it was split into 3 different locations which were Prague, Cheb and Craiova, Romania. It was a real blessing to be able to support the YWAM missionary staff at each of the different locations. The different ministries we were involved in were going on prayer walks, street evangelism, kids at Teen Challenge, homeless, reaching out to girls in prostitution, activities with English students, worship in the town, youth groups and ministry at churches. It was wonderful to spend the holidays with the Stoian family from our base and our new friends we met in the Czech Republic. As a team it was our heart to bring love, encouragement and hope to people during the outreach and I believe in my heart that we were able to touch many people’s lives through Christ.

A Journey of Trusting in God More
During the time I was in the Czech Republic circumstances had led me to return to Romania earlier. This was a decision my base leader had made and he thought that it was the best for the team at the time so other DTS staff led the rest of the outreach and I had some time off. To be totally honest my heart broke so much to not be able to finish the DTSfaith is trusting God even when you don't understand outreach with the students and to be a part of their journey during that time. I don’t understand why all of this had happened but during this time I just had to keep surrendering it to God and to trust in Him through the difficult season that I was in.

I felt like I went through some intensive spiritual battles and it was especially a wakeup call for me when I spent a couple of days with my counselors in Timisoara of how the Lord was trying to get my attention to just trust in Him more and to completely give Him every area of my heart. It was a very difficult season I went through but now when I look back my heart is filled with so much gratitude of how very faithful and loving God is and He also truly reminded me that He never leaves or forsakes us.

DTS Debriefing and GraduationIMG_6122
We had three days of debriefing with all students and the staff from Feb. 1st – 3rd to reflect and thank God for what He did during the outreach and the graduation was on February 4th. It was truly an honor to be a part of each of the DTS student’s journey and now I’m really excited to see what God has in store for them next!

“So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” – Isaiah 41:10

Going to the Shine Seminar
Last year my friend Becki told me about the Shine Seminar which is a 6 week training course on human trafficking that the YWAM Amsterdam base has every year in April. When I heard about it I got really excited to be able to get more awareness and training in this injustice issue that God began to break my heart over back in September 2014 whenShineYWAMAms God started to burn the nation of Cambodia on my heart which is when my eyes were first opened to this issue that is not only a problem in South East Asia but all over the world even including in my home country Canada.

It was not possible for me to go to this training course last year because the timing was not right so I prayed about it and felt in my heart that if God wanted me to go to it the following year that He would make it very clear to me which He did so I applied. With great joy in my heart I would like to share with you that I received my acceptance to go to the Shine Seminar on January 11th! I will be flying to Amsterdam on April 6th and I will be there until May 21st.

I have purchased my plane ticket in faith because of right now I do not have the finances for the tuition which is 1,200 Euro ($1,820 CAD). At this moment I do not exactly know what the next season will look like but I believe right now God has brought me into a waiting and a preparation time to get me ready for what He is calling me to do next. I do believe that God will provide for me to able to go. Would you please prayerfully consider sowing a seed for me to go to the Shine Seminar? Any size gift would be much appreciated and a huge help.

Praise Reports!
• I praise God for giving me the opportunity to lead the DTS team for a part of the outreach.
• I praise God for how He has been continuing teaching me the importance to trust in Him more!
• I praise God for the new door He has opened up for me to be able to go to the Shine Seminar!

Prayer Requests:
• For God to daily help me to become more fluent in my Romanian speaking skills. By now I should be fluent in the language but I’m not yet and I must improve for me to do more ministries here.
• For God to enlarge the vision that He has called me to and He will take me deeper into His heart.
• For God’s provision for my tuition to go to the Shine Seminar in Amsterdam (The tuition is due the first week which is April 7th or absolutely no later than the 3rd week which is April 28th).

I would like to thank-you for all of your encouragement and your prayers. It really means a lot to me to know that I have not been forgotten but I am remembered in people’s prayers. If you have any prayer requests please let me know and I’d be more than happy to pray for you. I am also always encouraged when I receive encouraging e-mails as well.
