April 4, 2016
Hello Family and Friends,
I hope you are doing well! Can you believe that we are now in the month of April and the winter season is over? It is hard to believe how quickly time goes by! Spring is now in the air here in Romania!
One of the ministries I have been consistently involved with since I have joined YWAM is going to the local cancer hospital here in Târgu Mureş, Romania with my landlord Viorica. I started going there when the YWAM DTS outreach team from Montana came here in June 2014 which was a real encouragement to me when I saw all of the miracles of what God did during that time so after that team left I felt in my heart to continue to go when I can.
Over the last couple of months it has been a real blessing to be able to serve with Viorica once or twice a week to go to the hospital together to pray for people and tell them about Jesus. Sometimes people seem very open to receive prayer and talk to us but other times they seem quite closed off. Lately I had noticed a real heavy spirit of hopelessness and oppression over the hospital. People need not only healing there but hope and most of all they need Jesus.
My Home Church
In the fall of 2014, I started to go to the New Generation church which is a small charismatic church in the city where I live and it has become my home church here. There are a lot of young people that go there and many young families as well. One thing that really attracted to this church is the teachings are so good and very deep too. We just spent a couple of months talking about the Holy Spirit and going over all of the gifts of the Holy Spirit which was so good. Now the church is doing a Bible study by Rick Warren called The Purpose Driven Life: What on Earth am I here for?
Another thing that really attracted me to this church is it is very outward focus because they have a strong desire to bring people to the Lord through their summer festival, the Alpha course and other events. I have also enjoyed a couple of recent activities like when I went to the Singles bowling on Valentine’s Day and the Women’s event on March 12th which was about dreaming with God. God also gave me a very special blessing at the end of January when the church put together prayer partners which is when I met my friend Rita.
A Nine Year Reflection on God’s Goodness
It is the moment that you say yes to Jesus with all of your heart, no matter what the cost will be or where He will take you but you just know that He is calling you and you must respond with YES! It is hard to believe that 9 years ago today on April 4, 2007 I had arrived in Romania which is when I had moved to this country that I have fallen in love with and God called me to serve here. I just wanted to take a moment to thank God for all of His faithfulness over the last nine years of serving Him here through all of the good times and hard times He alone is faithful and I just want to rejoice in God’s goodness and in His love.
“But those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint.” – Isaiah 40:31
I would like to strong urge you to never let anyone discourage you from following God’s calling for you. Do not ever give up, no matter what! Here is an inspiring quote from a friend of mine whom I love so much (shared with permission). “It is that overwhelming moment when you realize God has been the most faithful in the one area you had the least faith for because that’s the God we serve. He will bless you into your breakthrough and love you into your destiny.” (By Heather Freytes)
The Shine Seminar is here!
Last year at the end of April I went to the Shine conference which was in Buzau, Romania and it was at that time I met my friend Jorine (she is from The Netherlands but she is serving in Romania as a missionary). We connected through a mutual friend through facebook and then we were able to travel together to the conference. This friendship that we have is such a blessing from God especially that we both have a heart to fight against the injustice of human trafficking. I am so thankful that I was able to go on outreach with her twice to be able to talk to the girls who are in prostitution here in the area where I live in Romania and also on March 19th there was a human trafficking training with some volunteers by Laetitia who is from France but she is serving as a missionary in Bucharest, Romania.
I am incredibility excited the Shine Seminar is finally here! It will also be such a blessing that Jorine and Laetitia will be going as well. Tomorrow I will take an overnight bus from Târgu Mureş, Romania to the Budapest airport. On Wednesday April 6th my flight departs at 11:20am and I will arrive at the Amsterdam airport at 1:30pm. During the 6 weeks of this training course on human trafficking it is crucially important that I will be covered in prayer everyday so I definitely appreciate your prayers.
- I praise God for the opportunities to serve Him and love on people at the hospital.
- I praise God for giving me a great home church and for all of His faithfulness in my life.
- I praise God for all of the amazing friends He has put into my life here in Romania.
- For God’s protection as I travel to Amsterdam and during my time there at the Shine Seminar.
- For God to continue to increase my hunger and thirst for Him and to go deeper in Him.
- For God to speak to me and give me clarity of what the next season may look like in my life.
