During the month of March I read an incredible book on prayer. I finished reading it on March 10th. The book is called “Fervent: A Women’s Battle Plan to Serious, Specific and Strategic Prayer” and it is written by Priscilla Shirer. The writer of this book is one of the main actresses from the War Room movie.
In the introduction chapter of the book Priscilla shared a couple of acronyms for prayer which are:
The first acronym is: The second acronym is:
Yes (agreeing with the promising of God) Your
The rest of the book Priscilla talks about different prayer strategies which she divides into different chapters of the book. There are 10 different strategies that she discussed in the book which are: 1) your passion, 2) your focus, 3) your identity, 4) your family, 5) your past, 6) your fears, 7) your purity, 8) your pressures, 9 your hurts and 10) your relationships. At the end of each chapter after I learned about the prayer strategy Priscilla asked the reader to take some time to write out a prayer to God using the acronym PRAY – Praise, Repentance, Asking and Yes. I wrote out a prayer for each prayer strategy in a notebook and it was really great to learn how to write out a prayer by using scripture and with the acronym to praise God for who He is, to repent from any sins, to ask God in faith for the things that I’m seeking Him for and then to say yes to Him and agree with His promises that are in His word.
During the month of April and May I wrote out some prayers to God in my notebook that I started from this book and I am learning to listen to God’s voice more too. Now I just need to remember to continue to write out my prayers more, continue to pray specifically and also according to scripture as well which are all keys to be strategic in my prayers because we are all in a battlefield and we must do our battling on our knees in prayer.
Wow, I got so much out of this book and God really renewed my passion to pray again especially with using scripture and praying very strategically with specific focuses. I really want to thank God for this instrumental book and it is definitely a book that I will read again in the future. I would like to highly recommend this book to anyone who has a deep desire to go deeper in their prayer life with God.
